  1. QP are in poor form but we're a great style match up for them if that makes sense. They'll run all over the top of us in midfield where they have energy and some proper talent. It's where we're weakest now that the hapless Laurel and Hardy are out our defence.
  2. Just say David Goodwillie is your hero and be done with it
  3. Cove 2-0 Airdrie Utd East Fife 1-1 Clyde Falkirk 0-2 Queens Park Montrose 3-0 Dumbarton Peterhead 1-0 Alloa
  4. Have Dundee United fans ever sung this song for any other player?
  5. Dundee are a basket case though. If people think Dowds is out of shape they'll have a field day with Griffiths and his gut. I can see what the thinking would be with this signing but surely we'd have been better splitting the wage between a midfielder and a striker? We could get two decent players for £750 a week each I'd have thought. Personally I think the Garry O'Connor at Morton comparison is a good one. Griffiths is in worse nick physically than O'Connor was at that time.
  6. Val McDermid has a high profile and that's where Sturgeon etc picked this up. I agree with you to an extent btw - unless you're associated with Raith then nothing has really changed re Goodwillie in the last 24 hours. Clyde got off very lightly over the last few years in terms of backlash.
  7. It's a terrible statement but I'm not sure what anyone expected. They committed to put something out today which will be the only reason they've done it. It talks around the points but it just confirms what everyone has been saying for 24 hours - they signed him because they reckon he can score goals to take them up and think the collateral damage was worth it. The level of backlash they've had has been (pleasantly) surprising to me and is probably a shock to Raith as well but as soon as the ink dried on the contract there was no other outcome to this. It's a horrid situation but unfortunately today's backlash is likely as high publicity as this will be. Unless Goodwillie himself agrees to rip up the contract to avoid any further scrutiny then he'll be in a Raith shirt on the park imminently. For those saying they won't be back, I'm sure Kirkcaldy & Dysart would be glad of some additional support through the gates. I think they average about 70 as a home crowd. If you could double that for them it'd be quite a powerful statement, give people alternative football to go to and would have a legitimate community aspect to it.
  8. You've quite neatly encapsulated the primary reason I didn't want us to sign him. There'll undoubtedly be a decent proportion of any fanbase who would view his past as being fodder for wind-ups, songs, 'triggering the snowflakes' etc etc. I'm not going to my work all week so I can spend money on a Saturday sitting in the same stand as a bunch of wee coked up fuds chanting "He scores when he wants" with daft smirks on their faces.
  9. If you look at a combination of longevity, ability and impact on the team then Ben Hall is a bottom five all time player for us since I went to my first game in 1996. He was directly or indirectly responsible for about a goal a game, and that's before you look at the nerves he put the rest of the side in, him constantly being targeted at set pieces and his dire use of possession. It will be a sad day when someone trumps Leo Fasan but Hall might be number 2 in all seriousness. Giving him a new contract in the summer despite having a season and a half of first hand evidence is up there with the worst decisions the club have ever made. Holt really was worse than useless. Decisions like keeping Hall almost seem to have been active moves to damage the team.
  10. I bought for two members. I have pals who did likewise. You get the option to designate which member gets each package at the checkout.
  11. If you can string a sentence together which is longer than 5 words and don't laugh at 145 decibels at your own jokes then you're a wee wimp who can't inspire proper men IMO
  12. I'm continually amazed by the number of clubs who get medals for beating these shitty Falkirk teams
  13. What's the chances of this being off? Every train through Larbert is getting cancelled this morning and the wind is forecasted to get worse.
  14. He's 35 years old and has played 19 games for St Johnstone this year after playing 30+ games in a double cup winning side last season. We're not exactly putting Alex Totten in the centre of the park by signing Liam Craig.
  15. Clyde 1-2 Alloa Dumbarton 0-2 Cove East Fife 1-2 Peterhead Montrose 2-1 Falkirk Queens Park 0-1 Airdrie
  16. Personally I'm not seeing Morrison as an option in a midfield three. He's a bit of a blunt object and is at his best when he's taking defenders on directly. I don't see him having the necessary balance in his play to complement an older Liam Craig or Gary Miller and Charlie Telfer who looks a bit overwhelmed as it is. Nesbitt and McGuffie flit in and out of play a bit too much for my liking to go into that three as well. Morrison is a striker in this 3-5-2 or an option off the bench. Nesbitt is a potential option in games against the weakest sides in the division in a midfield three. McGuffie is a player I don't particularly rate anyway but I think he's very much a square peg for a round hole in this formation. If it's to be Liam Craig, Telfer and one other than I really think we need a third player in who can go box to box and is more physical in their style of play. Alternatively, I view all of our other options as being flawed to a lesser or greater extent unless Hetherington comes back as a new player.

  18. Watson was fine when he was next to someone who was taking the lead in the pairing (Grant, McCracken) and telling him exactly what to do, but was hopeless when paired next to a dumpling like that blob Gasparotto. Would assume he'll be on the right side of the back three which might suit him if he's got a leader in the middle. Dixon can potentially fulfil that role I'd think. Just great to have McKay and particularly Hall pushed down the pecking order. Hall should never be on the pitch again IMO - one of the all time worst. Re Keena, I've always liked the idea of him but then the reality when he was on the park was very disappointing. He is technically decent and seems to be a decent finisher around the box but he was never involved enough and doesn't have the physical attributes I'd be looking for. There's probably a level where he'd stand out as players get slower and defenders make more mistakes but he wasn't the answer for us. Ideally I'd have another centre back, cover at RWB and a striker coming in, but the priority absolutely has to be the centre of midfield now. People seem to want a destroyer/holding player but I think we need legs in there more than anything else. Telfer is getting a bit of stick on here but what's he meant to do when he's got Gary Miller standing on the toes of the defence and whoever the out of position show pony of the week is either side of him. Liam Craig would be a great signing in isolation but would still leave us lacking a big box to box player (Ben Williamson would be the ideal type of player we need but is obviously unavailable). Telfer, Craig and a big athlete seems like a great balance to me. I can't see us catching any of the top three so that QP game a week on Saturday is massive. I think they're the only team above us that we can realistically catch so we have to beat them at home. Gives us a little bit of time to get Watson, Kubia and hopefully one or two others into the starting XI. Not writing off the Montrose game by any means but that QP game is the biggest of our season so far.
  19. How is a guy talking about "all these blacks" in response to someone being racially abused "tasty" or "very impressive" in any way?
  20. Commentator is calling this game remotely from The Brig Tavern.
  21. "Ad hominem attacks" =/= getting clamped repeatedly every time you post nonsense!
  22. They've played each other countless times over the years and it's a 200+ mile round trip. 1,400 is a cracking away support.
  23. Premiership clubs have also also gone back to allowing five subs per game.
