  1. He’s been named in overseas media anyway, but aye it’s a bit “we can’t name him for legal reasons, but his name rhymes with…”
  2. Our squad might well be a bit pish and thin, but I’d still rather Lyon was out on loan and playing every week rather than sitting on the bench here. We can always sign some bang average journeyman for the bench instead. And O’Ware going awol significantly improves our defensive options, imo.
  3. f**k it, aye he’s better than Alaba. I’ve never heard of him. I’d never heard of Lauda or Sailer either, as I don’t like F1 or skiing, so was just going off their Wikipedia pages.
  4. There were shout earlier on for a cricketer called Don Bradman to be Australia’s best ever sportsman. I don’t understand what the numbers mean, but his batting average is 99.94 (per Wikipedia) while the next highest are around 60 odd, so I’ll assume that’s really, really good. Austria, as you say, is a tough one. The boy Sailer seems to have retired from skiing at 24 for some reason, but absolutely dominated it before then. I’d possibly side with you and go with Lauda just for longevity compared to Sailer, although if Sailer had kept going and kept dominating at the rate he was, it wouldn’t be close.
  5. I think the club might have other things to worry about the now.
  6. Aside from the obvious playoff defeat against Livi, the 5-1 defeat against Dunfermline in 2019 when Tam O’Ware got himself sent off about 8 seconds in was particularly bleak.
  7. This reads an awful lot like “I went to the University of life”.
  8. Literally no one on here is going to watch that video, mate.
  9. Are ‘genuinely smart’ people not allowed to be interested in discussing Montrose v Airdrie*? *other games are available
  10. @Highlandmagyar Tier 3 would find a way to turn us winning the Champions League into something to moan about, it’s his whole thing.
  11. I liked Reece Cole, but he’s a shitebag and can be completely invisible. I also remember a moment when we were about 3 or 4 nil down at home, and the ball ran out to him on the edge of the box but instead of hitting it he did a stupid step over thing and let it run to absolutely nobody and I don’t think I’ve ever been more annoyed at a footballer.
  12. Aye, I wouldn’t bother with Dubai again. It’s got a really big building, some other nice/impressive enough buildings and a big shopping centre. That’s basically it. You can’t even really see that far from the top of the big building because of the sand. The fact that there’s obvious slavery everywhere is also deeply unpleasant.
  13. I’d go along with this. Messi has also, to my knowledge, never utterly destroyed a man’s psyche in the way Maradona did with Peter Shilton. But Messi is, at the very least, in the top two best footballers to ever live, so aye, that’s no bad going.
  14. Are we going to bother with the pretence of considering other sports for Argentina, or will we just jump straight to whether we’re going with Messi or Maradona? If we are going to look at other sports, I believe there’s some pretty good Argentine basketball players, some tennis players (Del Potro, Vilas and Nalbandian) and Juan Manuel Fangio, who was apparently quite good at F1 in the 50’s.
  15. September 2060 And that's much better. After scraping a draw against Skenderbeu, we got our season really started with a fantastic win over newly promoted Villanzia. We were well on the way to defeat against Tirana, before I threw on Hoxha, and Tirana couldn't handle his pace as he changed the game and we came out victorious. Pogradeci are pish, and we were incredibly comfortable despite ending yet another game with 10 men. We're doing pretty well so far, although it's obviously early days. Latvia We're quite a bad team Andorra deserved the draw against us, and that's the same team who took a 4-1 loss against Gibraltar. An awful lot of work needs done with this mob.
  16. August 2060 Not the best start, and we're now without a win in 7 league games, but not the worst start either and we played ok in both games - although we ended up with 10 men in both as well. Good to see Gojani grab his first goal for us too. Early days but that's the table so far.
  17. Transfers 2060 The players who've left up first. Youssef Rehani was a sort of semi-regular starter for me, but not really good enough. Likewise with Kllogjeri and Jusuf. Muca was a young player with loads of potential, and will probably go on to be more than good enough for a side looking to win the league, but he wasn't there yet. Other than that, no losses here. Right, up first we have Murahem Hoxha, a right winger. He used to play here, before spending a few seasons at Kukesi not really getting a game.. He's qucik though, and a bit different from my other winger. His arrival means that I now definitely have two decent options on the right wing, which wasn't the case last season, so I'll call that a win. Muhamed Gojani is here to be my first choice striker, which might be harsh on Cekaj who he replaces, but Gojani is better. He's quick, has good movement and is a very decent finisher. I'm pleased with this one. Now, onto my defence. Valon Ndreca is a centre half who joins for a fair bit of money. His positioning is a bit suspect, but other than that he's a good defender. I won't be expecting him to do anything at all with the ball though. Elton Bytyqi joins as a utility player. Pretty solid all along the back line, but not first choice in any of them. Kind of guy my squad could use as sticking him on the bench will cover me in a number of areas, allowing me to throw a few more attackers on there. Enes Alili is my back up goalkeeper who was signed because I let my two back ups from last season leave. He won't play unless McDowell gets injured. Hopefully that won't happen since he doesn't look up to much. Matteo Pizzuto joins to partner Ndreca in my defence, and he looks ok, although he's really poor in the air for a centre back. That said, his positioning is good and he's strong and good when the balls on the ground so I think the two of them should make a decent enough partnership. Gentian Broja was my last minute signing and will challenge Gojani to play up front. He's not as quick, but has a better first touch and slightly better finishing. They're both pretty similar players but the pair of them should give me some good options.
  18. Manucho maybe a better shout for their best footballer (Manucho - Wikipedia). Signed by Man United when they weren't hilarious, didn't make it there but seems to have made a pretty decent career, with plenty of appearances in La Liga, albeit for some of the poorer sides in that league.
  19. Not yet, but it's one of the five I currently have loaded up so I'll be heading there relatively soon.
  20. Just looked and they've not won a qualification match in 11 years, so that's a good sign.
  21. Got offered this out of the blue. Latvia are currently the fifth worst side in Europe, ahead of only San Marino, Andorra, Gibraltar and Malta. They're ranked below powerhouses such as Guam, Yemen and American Samoa. Think I'll take it and see if I can get anything out of their band of jokers.
  22. May 2060 Well, with our primary aim of staying in the division achieved, we've spent the final month of the season going through the motions and getting thumped wherever we play. f**k it. Mostly I've been looking at who I'll be signing for next season anyway, wasn't fussed about results other than the cup final. I'll count that as a successful season, ten points ahead of the relegation playoff (which Bylis won, obviously). My attack is pretty decent, but I really need to sort out my defence to improve next year.
  23. Albanian Cup Final - 2060 It's a first cup final since 1998 for Apollonia, and we're facing KF Tirana - a side who've won the cup 34 times. Will be a very tough test, and we have three losses and a draw against them this season so far. I'm not expecting much but you never know. The fact we've made the final at all is remarkable given how bad a side we've been for a large chunk of the season.
  24. April 2060 Not quite the heights of last month, but very solid stuff all round and a fantastic win in then cup semi final thrown in as well. Who knows where we could have been if we'd been able to have this kind of form all season rather than just right at the end, but it bodes well going forward at any rate. Job officially done and we're staying up. Just about trying to finish as high up the table as possible now, and of course we have the cup final to look forward to. All in all, a very pleasing season despite a shambolic couple of months to start it off.
