Lisa Cuddy Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 I can't remember the name of the shop but it's in the St Enoch Centre, right next to the food court. Loads of model cars and trains although I have no idea what the prices are like. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
~~~ Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 My godson in Australia is currently in the middle of every 3 year old boy's "car daft" stage. I wanted to get him some nice model cars for his bedroom. You used to have places here like Beatties that did all these kind of 1/24 - 1/12 models, but those places are all gone. Is anyone aware of anywhere that still does stuff like that? I've looked online but nowhere has that big a selection or they're fucking extortionate. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
WhiteRoseKillie Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 The big toy shop? Hamleys?I don't know if it's still there, but Hamleys opened a specialised model shop in London years ago - planes, trains, cars, boats... I could have spent days just browsing, but had to limit myself to two shopping trips a year, back in the day when I used to get free rail travel. Also pre-internet, hence why I don't know if it is still open. Modelsforsale.com might be cheaper, mind, but it lacks the "experience". I think Mrs WRK feels the same way about shoes.... 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
That's a bit shit, it was a nice little shop. Still, St Enoch Centre really could use a few more diners. KnightswoodBear Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 There used to be some model shops down off the Trongate, but no doubt they're all gone now too. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
I'm sure there's still one next to the Criterion Cafe, just before McKinnons. Pippins Toys or something like that? 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Mark Connolly Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 Modelzone in St Enoch shut, but they have a wee one in the back of WH Smith on Sauchiehall Street, next to the post office bit. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
lichtgilphead Posted January 23, 2015 Share Posted January 23, 2015 The tap in my kitchen is leaking slightly from the neck. I'm no expert on plumbing, but is it likely that it requires the washer being changed over? or can it be something more comlex? Turn the water heater thermostat up to full & open all the windows 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Don't know how much help this is but there used to be a model shop in Stirling called Pippens. It's boarded up now but there's signs saying there's a shop in Glasgow and that they have a website. There's always Aliexpress.com as well. Website as a whole looks ok but don't know what the quality of goods are like which has put me off buying anything from them so far. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
