I think Wright has said he is fit and been given the ok to play.

Has to be said though, Smith is an absolute clown for his treatment of Rory Brian, I'll wager if he'd given him some game time last season he'd have stayed and been available, hell he'd probably  even have been a challenger for the jersey over RT.

Based on what? He played a couple of friendlies and looked poor in the air at crosses as he was very short for a keeper. He looked capable at youth team level in the few games I saw him play but nothing to say he would have been first team level.

He played against Forfar last season then was dropped. He looked fine in that game, certainly nothing he could of done for Forfar's goal which was one of the best hit free kicks I've seen.

I saw him play 7 games for the dev side last year, 1 game for the 1st team and he looked a far better keeper than Lennox or Smith. Out of the dev side he was the one I thought had the most potential.

Having now seen both McGuff and Wright in action Ive got no doubt who I'd rather we had in goal tomorrow.

You question his height yet he's the same height as Andy Goram was when he played for Oldham and Hibs. Was he too small to be a top class keeper?

From the weekly email in case anyone missed it:

Martin McGroarty Making Raith Suite Music
Saturday 11th August 2018
After an appeal to local musicians last week to offer prematch entertainment, we had an amazing response. This week we are delighted to have talented local Rovers' fan Martin McGroarty appearing in the Raith Suite from 12.45pm. Check out Martin's stuff here at www.martinmcgroarty.com. Please note the Raith Suite is restricted in capacity and match tickets need to be bought from main office before entering the suite. Transfers are available for those who prefer to sit in the Penman Family Stand for the match. With Sky Sports on in the background too and a well stocked bar, what a great way to start your Saturday!

I don't know what the script was with Brian. I don't like the idea of fielding young keepers for one off games. A mistake could cause serious confidence problems etc. I found that with Lennox last season. The more games he was playing, the less confident he looked for coming out and collecting crosses or dealing with balls in the 6 yard box.

The height thing isn't an issue for me and comparing his height to someone who played the game over 20 years ago is a ludicrous point. A lots changed since then.

Smith had howlers up both his sleeves as we know. But, I can remember more saves that he made than Lennox to be fair. I can't actually think of a 'good save' that Lennox made at all last season. I'd be happy to be reminded if there is one anyone can think of.

He made a cracker of a save low down to his right just before he got injured.

The ball was almost behind him if I remember correctly.

Injury fucked him as he started off really well.

He made two superb saves before getting injured. One was against Stranraer I think in an early league game and the other was in the challenge cup game that he got injured in.

He was way off the pace when he returned though.

As an aside, if we are forced to play a trialist tomorrow, by my reckoning that will be the 11th different player to turn out in goals for us since the start of the 2016/17 season.

Cuthbert, Lennox, Brennan, Stevenson (), Penksa,  Smith, Brian, Thompson, Wright......?

Totally off topic but to answer your question Scotty, I didn’t rate Goram as a top class keeper. A few very good saves, one against big Pierre Van  Hooijdonk springs to mind but I always thought he was under tested due to the success of the team he was in and was over hyped.

Question...did Andy Goram grow taller when he played for Rangers (RIP) and Scotland?
