Top Gear

In fairness I didn't think it was that bad. Evans was a bit shouty but I enjoyed the most of it. Le Blanc was entertaining and I'm sure it'll gel.

People will be comparing it to the old top gear which I didn't think was any good in its 1st season. Give it time.

Chris Evans seemed to be everywhere in the 1990s - he seemed to catch the zeitgeist - but everything he's done since has died on its arse.

You wonder what the BBC's last throw of the dice will be - fling in Johnny Vaughan? He was famous and mildly funny in the last century too.

Please God no! Vaughan is an irritating c**t.

I thought Le Blanc was pretty good in fairness. Evans is just an insufferable p***k. Beyond me why they picked him.

It was more scripted than ever before I thought. Also, I was expecting a bit if an overhaul. It was essentially the exact same bits from the old show.

I cringed at Evans trying to pmay it off as if they had been best mates for 10 years.

Hard to disagree with that analysis.

The funniest bits of the Big Breakfast tended to be when stuff went wrong - the one that always sticks in my mind was the time they'd been doing some cookery thing then went to the news.

They cut back to the studio just as Denise van Outen was loudly complaining that her fingers stunk of fish. Vaughan basically falls off the sofa laughing, and she turns to camera and puts on a serious news anchor voice:

"For those viewers who have just joined us, I've been holding a fish..."

About half way through and it's cringingly awful. I'd feel seriously sorry for the guy from Friends if he wasn't already being paid a fortune by a BBC who apparantly can't afford even a basic coverage of Scottish football. Makes me want to punch somebody.

So what has Evans actually brought to the show? We were told he was an incredibly talented producer, bubbling with ideas that could take the show forward but it looks like there's absolutely f**k-all new. No originality whatsoever.

It's like they remade Pulp Fiction with the cast of Little House On The Prairie
