F**k them all Ruggy! I'm trying this cold toast sandwich nonsense tomorrow!

You won't regret it. The choice of filling is important though. It doesn't work with just anything. Today I had tuna, Mayo, sweet corn and onion combination.

Ah, well I hate tuna, but I guess you recommend a moist filling to compliment the dryness of the toast?

Not necessarily, but processed meat for example wouldn't work well. Chicken, Mayo and bacon would be good, or a BLT for example would be good.

You can buy club sandwiches which are obviously made using toast in packets, so what's the issue?

The essence of a club sandwich is fresh toast.  My three love them but it involves a lot of prep: slicing poached chicken, avocado, tomato and lettuce and having a jar of mayo handy.

When the first 3 slices of toast are done you then assemble them quickly, feed the hungriest and then put the next 3 slices in the toaster...a bit like a production line.

Imagine Catherine's sad wee face when she's not allowed a club sandwich because daddy says the toast needs a day in the fridge first!

Chicken, mayo and bacon would be a much better filling than that tuna-laden monstrosity. I admire your work with toast but tuna is foul. Please consider the aforementioned chicken combination for your lunch tomorrow.

I'm having chicken as part of dinner tonight, and tomorrow is a "normal" sandwich day so no dice, but I will consider for my next toasted packed lunch concoction.

The toaster is indeed crappy. You have to turn the bread round half way through.

That seems to have been the case with almost every toaster I've owned. It's like they have never looked at a slice of bread and thought, "let's make a toaster that will accommodate that area all at once."
