The full list of the only decent musicals ever made: Rocky Horror South Park: The Movie Moulin Rouge (I fully accept any disagreements on this one) Everything else is a half-hour story dragged out by shit music that would be rejected from any other form. FACT. Edit: I'm also well aware that SP:TM was a quasi-remake of Les Miz. This does not make Les Miz any good. I've still got a newspaper cutting of review of a musical called "The Fields of Ambrosia" which was based around the electric chair and was likened to "Springtime for Hitler". Time for a revival...

velo army
Sound of Music, Carousel (possibly the most underrated musical), Calamity Jane and Singing In The Rain (probably the best of them all) are much better than Seven Brides (not even the best musical with Howard Keel in it). But aye, musicals are the highest form of film. Edited February 19, 2022 by velo army
BFTD
I'd genuinely contemplate stabbing myself in the scrotum if it got me out of ever experiencing The Sound of Music again.

Cosmic Joe
Oliver has a few belting tunes, as does Fiddler on the Roof (steady Kenneth), but I largely concur that musicals are best avoided. -

Shotgun
For various reasons, I expect to end up in the hot place when I die. That doesn’t bother me too much but I fear Satan will make me watch musicals for all eternity.

tamthebam
There was a thread a few years ago called "Pie and Bovril: the Musical" which would have been the greatest musical ever. Except if St Mirren have lost. In which case the curtain goes down just before the interval and the audience is told to gtf.
