Springfield
Wasn’t fussed about this one but got a freebie from a friend who’s a daft Ayr fan, so an overnight stop and enjoying a few beers. Interesting to hear the home fans comments. From the first Morrison break the negative vibes reminded me of our season’s finish. After we scored and then our chances to go two possibly three up, the mood changed and pelters aimed at the manager and directors box. Anyway the Ayr fans where we we sat thought our play was great and thought Henderson was easily MOM. Didn’t really give a shit for this one, but 400 fans on a Tuesday night was brilliant. Lastly a few comments about Allan - one of McGlynns not so good
Guest
I think Ayr barely had the ball in our half all night. With the exception of scoring more goals it was about as comfortable a win as it could be. Don’t think Hogarth had a save to make either. Good to see Sammy McGivern in the away end too.

Will there be highlights? I know there was no live FTV coverage but were the boys there? Yes they were there and yes they'll produce highlights.

He gets bits and pieces of game time here and there and never ever gets the chance to play up top in a two, which begs the question why did McGlynn bring him in. I will however say that if you give him a chance in our current squad he is the most likely to hit the target. I think he is fine coming off the bench to see out a game or to bring him on if you are chasing an equaliser but don’t try to make him something he isn’t. We are never in a month of Sundays going to have 3/4 quality strikers on our books in the third tier of Scottish football. All about opinions though. Allan's not a lone striker, we can all see that, however, I think McGlynn's done quite well in bringing him in as he offers something different. As things stand, we hopefully won't need to use him too much because the MacIver hold up and link play, while bringing Morrison and Agyeman in to threaten, has been working brilliantly. However, if we need a goal, we can change things up by bringing Allan on to play alongside MacIver in the latter stages.
NavyBlueArmy1876
Played really well tonight. Lots of sharp fast passing and pressed the opposition relentlessly. Deserved more goals but saw it out very comfortably in the end Tom Lang my MotM, an absolutely flawless performance. Morrison, Nesbitt, Lawal and Henderson were all impressive. Ayr were really, really shite and looked like a lowland league side tbh. I feel we deserve credit though, yet another performance where we have been absolutely on it from the first minute The two young guys that came on did well on the wings, Walker(?) is rapid and the new right back also didnt look out of place. Guest
Wasn’t too bothered about the result tonight as it’s the one competition we could maybe do without however momentum is a good thing and doing well in the competition hasn’t done us too much harm in the past.

Dowds would never come back to us. Why would you given the dogs abuse he took the first time. It must have been like having to walk barefoot over broken glass when he came back after a successful loan spell at Arbroath when it was apparent he would rather have been anywhere else but TFS. He couldn't wait to get away. Edit to add he hasn't really recaptured the form he showed at Arbroath for Partick. That said when Brian Graham is your competition for a starting slot it's a no brainer.

Roboccop
I just got in having driven to the Lakes after the match. Thought that was as easy as Thistle last year. Nesbitt was fantastic, I hope folk change their opinion of him this year. Had we started our strongest lineup that would have been a massacre.

I said to my mate on Monday that it wouldn't surprise me if we played Oliver up top due to Allan's effectiveness in a lone striker role. I didn't think McGlynn would play the youngsters as suggested on here from the start, I expected Bisland to start and Yeats in midfield probably my only thought to predict McGlynn to be wrong. He obviously sent out a team that could win it and did, not to suggest throwing in a youngster or two couldn't but his mindset was obviously similar to league business in don't expose youngsters in the deep end. I'm sure next round is a Saturday, so it's not a bad thing to be playing week in week out if the winning/undefeated status continues

I’m glad we didn’t have any injuries. On reflection we could have beaten this mob with the young team and a few bench warmers. Don’t think Our keeper had a save to make.Truth is Ayr are not and never have been a bigger club than us . I really don’t believe there’s any difference between league 1 & most of the championship

Would have a genuine chance of selling out Tynecastle if that came to fruition.
Blame Me
Just watched the highlights and Gary Oliver looks like he badly needs a goal. A more confident player takes that chance at the back post or at least makes much more of an attempt. Apart from that observation a fantastic result whatever way you look at it. Pleased to hear Nesbitt was getting praise again Edited September 6, 2023 by Blame Me Added positivity
