The Falkirk FC Thread

Can't see heading being banned it's an integral part of the game. Would be like saying to boxers you can't punch above the neck. You make people aware of the dangers just like any other sport and improve the medical care for those participating and for those who have retired from the game. People will then know the risks and can decide whether they are willing to take them or not.  Wouldn't have stopped me playing football all these years I've got to say. Boxing is far more of a risk yet isn't banned and you just have to look at the isle of man TT. People are killed in that every year.

But don’t we need two up top every game?

Tbf nobody has said we needed two up top this season. Last year, yes, there were a fair few shouts for it. But now we have a striker than can actually play the lone striker role one up top is working perfectly.

Tbh mckiver can play with Allan up top and the only time we should do it is if we are chasing a game with 15-20 minutes to go and we are behind by 1 goal against a team we are better than which should not happen but cove happened but other than that yeah 1 up top is the way to go unless mckiver gets injured the 1 and a half up top with Allan and Oliver (not calling Allan short but the lack of threat from Oliver)

To play one up front you have to have a striker that is tall, physical, can run in behind and can finish all types of chances. We've got that in MacIver and he's easily the most effective we've had at doing that since Farid. Alegria looked to fit that type as well but unfortunately we lost him before he really got going. Good goalscorers that are missing one of these attributes like Allan, McManus, John Baird, Burrell etc will always benefit from having someone up there with them and look better for it

Plus in Miller, Agyeman and Morrison we've got a huge amount of pace and attacking directness immediately behind. We're essentially playing with 4 forwards rather than 1 which is reflected in the number of goals and chances we are creating. Just don't let Brad McKay near the team and it's all looking very positive so far

Update on FSS Fans Director Nominations

We wanted to update members that disappointedly, despite an extension of the deadline to 11th September, there have been no nominations. This vacancy is open at an exciting time for the club as we look to push for promotion back to the Championship.

This means, that for the time being, FSS have a vacant seat on the Board. We will discuss with the Board the potential to appoint an interim, co-opted director from the FSS Committee who can support the refinement of the role.

Disappointing that, from over 700 members, not one is willing to give it a go.

Hope that whoever is co-opted is strong enough to stand up for the FSS members and not chosen just because they will follow the party line.
