The Falkirk FC Thread

The tabloids all on the same song. Credit to Rodgers for his overall appraisal. He sounded pretty genuine and you don’t get that very often. A  few potential issues could arise from yesterday.

1. McGlynns stock will be very much enhanced (yes age may be a negative) but surely clubs will be taking notice.

2. MacIver - brilliant take for any CF but beating one of the best keepers from a decent distance will draw attention. Secondly when we lose him we are seriously weakened up top.

Desperately hope that the guys up top can find revenue to get another CF in. After our initial great start and exceptional showing yesterday, it could be the difference in getting up.

McGlynn will be in the market for a loan CF, after that display against Celtic, Falkirks stock will have risen as a good and progressive place for an up-and-coming striker to go that will return better than when he left.

Its been a while since the club has been seen like that.

What about someone like  cillian Sheridan to the end of the season. He's a free agent currently and did very well in his short stint at queen's park  in the second half of last season.

Need someone who is match fit and can contribute immediately.

We might not depending on if Ross is going to be injured or not, if he gets over his injury in time for Saturday who ever comes in would be warming the bench anyway. It’s not really clear at the moment how desperate the need is.

McGlynn has shown if the game is won he will pull players off and give others in the squad a run. It's a sensible call in particular if the player coming off has a booking but also looking long term for the season ahead. McIvor is the only player we don't have a near like for like replacement.

I would not be surprised if Alfie was moved into the middle as short term cover with Ross on the wing if Callum is still out

I would hope a pat on the back and a hearty 'well done' would be sufficient! :o

I would be given Agyeman has never played there before for us. Think it will be Oliver upfront if Maciver is out, which isn’t really a long term solution.

Another ex-player in the headlines for the wrong reasons. Never thought Biabi was close to good enough for Swansea but still sad how it’s turned out for him.

https://www.falkirkherald.co.uk/news/crime/former-falkirk-and-stenhousemuir-player-in-court-facing-drug-charges-4795647

A footballer who played for both Falkirk and Stenhousemuir has appeared in court accused of drug charges.

Botti Biabi, 28, allegedly had possession of cocaine with intent to supply on January 17, 2023.

Now with Drumchapel United, the forward is also claimed to have been in possession of cocaine in the city's Gorbals on the same date.

Biabi faces a third allegation of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.

The charge states that Biabi, of the city's Anniesland, shouted and swore on Crown Street.

Biabi's final allegation claims that he intentionally obstructed police officers Stephen Thomson and Samantha McEwan.

It is said that Biabi struggled with the pair of them.

Biabi pled not guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to all four charges.

A trial has been set for next month by Sheriff Anthony Deutsch.

He joined Falkirk in 2012 as a 16-year-old eventually making 31 appearances and scoring four goals for the first team.

In 2015 he moved to Premier League Swansea for a “six-figure fee”, before loan spells at Hamilton and Macclesfield.

He signed for Stenhousemuir in 2019, staying two seasons and making 40 appearances when he scored ten goals.

Spells at Kelty Hearts and Brechin followed.

I always thought he got his move away from us too quickly after his debut when he could have stayed and got more experience.

It feels mental to see his career is basically over given he's player that came through as a youngster with so much potential and played in a Scottish cup final only 9 years ago.

Your going to struggle to get someone match fit I'd think. Not many sides will be putting guys playing regularly out on loan.

None of the players that moved on from us having played very few first team games have done anything really since leaving.

By no means excusing the actions he’s allegedly committed at all, but it really must take a mental toll on these guys. Think about it, he comes through at Falkirk and breaks into the team young and quite quickly gets a move to Swansea who were in the PL at the time. He won’t have been in megabucks, but it wouldn’t have been peanuts either. To have all that hope, the quality of care/coaching he’ll have had etc, and end up milling around the lower and now junior leagues back up the road as he has for a number of years now, it must be pretty hard to deal with. Again, it happens to lots of people so it’s not an excuse at all, but I think it’s something to consider.

A possible option putting Alfie up top, with Ross and Miller on the wings. Although I think McGlynn will do what he done at Parkhead and play Oliver up top as he's provided decent link up there before; although Shanley was suspended at the weekend who may have come on instead. We also have the wildcard of putting McKenna up top, red cards aside.
