Theroadlesstravelled
Almost Famous. A tall tale about the early life of Cameron Crowe when he was a journalist for Rolling Stone magazine.
19QOS19
The Cider House RulesI have to be honest and say I'd never heard of this until I looked into seeing who had managed to beat Michael Clarke Duncan to the Best Supporting Actor Oscar. Given I thought MCD was superb I had to see how good a performance Caine had given to beat him. I'm glad I did. Really enjoyed this film, right up my street. A nice laid back film until near the end with the shocking moment and it kind of explodes a bit from there. Had a couple of laughs, a few heartfelt moments and a really good story. On the BSA though. I like Caine as an actor but that was absolutely criminal he beat MCD to it. I felt Caine's accent was pretty dodgy throughout. I dunno if that's because he generally plays a cockney and I was subconsciously hearing it but either way there is no way that was a better performance in that category. Charlize Theron is absolutely stunning.
Raidernation
West End. 1/10Some sort of gangster shite one of my housemates was watching ( he binges in Chicago PD, NCIS, Laura Norder, Criminal minds etc. ALL FUCKING DAY when he’s not working) Within about 5 minutes it was obvious what was going on. I read some of my book, scrolled through P&B, went for a shit, made dinner and I never once list the thread of this pile of excrement
Silverton End
Planet Terror (2007) Robert Rodriguez's homage to 1970's/80's zombie gorefests. So over the top, it's great fun, non-stop action, blood & a cast including a few old hands from the horror genre, Tom Savini etc. You'll either love the way that the movie is shot in a grainy 70's style or hate it. 8/10

stanton
Ad Astra - A little bit disappointing if I’m honest. Visually it’s excellent but I found the story a bit poor , maybe I need to watch it again . 6-10
Archie McSquackle
Always fancied watching Closer and got round to it tonight. Always liked Clive Owen and the lovely Natalie Portman, less so Julia Roberts and even less so Jude Law but thought they were all very good in it. 7/10 and not sure music in strip clubs is good as that (and Clive Owen must have had quite an eyefull in the strip club scenes).

Was it was Coppola's latest cut of the film they were showing? I remember seeing the Redux cut when it came out, and it's mental how much they originally shot that never really had a chance of making it into the film.
Silverton End
Husk (2011) 5 folk have a car accident out in rural USA, they spot a farmhouse beyond a cornfield. They make for the old farmhouse, through the cornfield, where they are assailed by evil looking hooded figures. I thought this would the usual cheap run of the mill slasher type horror, but it had a decent supernatural storyline. Good background music & visuals, a well made film. 7/10

No' sure - planning to watch it later - the version that's on the BBC i-player is 2 hours 5- minutes long. I've aye found it a long and slow film, but that's never bothered me. Great film, like.

Saw that in the cinema. You can almost smell the weed and booze wafting down to you from the screen.

When the helicopter flew overhead in the opening scenes, you could see people in the audience instinctively ducking and looking up at the ceiling. Not me though; I'm way too savvy for that. But a couple of minutes later when you heard the mosquito, I was flinching and looking around for the little b*****d.

paul-r-cfc
More a recommendation, Knives out is on Amazon prime which is a nice wee watch.Excellent, thanks for that. Fire alarm went off 45 minutes in when I saw this at silverburn and it was going to be an hour before it started back, so we went home. Will be good to finally finish it.
Comrie
The Hills Have Eyes Saw the remake years ago which was pretty eh and this is considerably better without being great. Feels like an inferior Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but is still pretty entertaining even if the parents in this are all pretty craptacular. 7/10

There was a story behind why it was even made, but the general idea was that Wes Craven didn't want to do it, and it shows. The sequel to the remake wasn't the best film in the world, and is disturbingly obsessed with gross mutant rape, but does feature the "Shitman the Barbarian" scene, which got a laugh out of me for its sheer unexpectedness.

Silverton End
Night of The Living Dead (1990) Remake of Romero's 1968 movie, directed by Tom Savini. Doesn't stray too far from the original, Barbara has balls this time though. Enjoyable 7.5/10
