SaltyTON
ThemHey, this is fun. It all seems to happen rather suddenly though after they actually get into the house. 6/10 Which one?
Loki
in fact i would put both No Country and There Will be Blood into my top 20 1.Seven 2. Memento 3.Casino 4.American History X 5.Goodfellas 6.Shawshank Redemption 7.Usual Suspects 8.Heat 9.Raging Bull 10.Pulp Fiction 11.City of God 12.There Will Be Blood 13. No Country For Old Men 14.Zodiac 15.Reservoir Dogs 16.Fightclub 17.Stand By Me 18.Walk The Line 19.LA Confidential 20.Bourne Ultimatum Comedy - 1.Monty Python and the holy grail 2.Happy Gilmore 3.Monty Python and the Life of Brian 4.Dodgeball 5.The Simpsons Movie i didn't include the likes of the Godfather , star wars , indiana jones , back to the future etc etc as i personally found they worked better as a triology rather than seperate films , so thats why i missed them out of my top 20 For someone with a totally shite taste in football teams, you don't half like a good film. I haven't seen There Will Be Blood or No Country for Old Men. Plan to see them in the very near future. The last film I seen was Cloverfield, and I hated it. It was so loud, my ears were just about bleeding coming out of it. Was there any need for that wee shitty crawler beasts? 2/10
Satans_Husband
ThemHey, this is fun. It all seems to happen rather suddenly though after they actually get into the house. 6/10 Which one? Since there's no reference to giant ants, I think he's taking about the recent one. It may be a really good film but I was (generally) informed of the conclusion before I saw it so I don't know if the tension would have held up or not. It does trade a bit on the 'Based On A True Story' nonsense that seems to exist if a film has the remotest thing in common with a real event.

Morrissey
La HaineFrench black and white film - awesome! 9/10 Fantastic film. Last film I saw was Cloverfield - utter rubbish - an assault on the eyes! 2/10 for copying the blair witch style, and bereft of any good characters. People booed in the cinema at the end, I was tempted to join in!

I was disappointed we didn't get compensation from the producers of Run, Fat Boy, Run over the fitness of Peter Weatherson.
SaltyTON
Aliens is better IMO, as James Cameron manages to make it a completely different movie. It doesn't rely on being a product of it's time because 1) not a shit ending and 2) not as reliant on the cliche scares that Alien provides. Salty - I guarantee that you will come out of AVP2 thinking "what a piece of crap" if you watch Aliens beforehand. Aliens is getting delivered in a couple of days from lovefilm, so we'll see... Oh and I saw Sweeney Todd at the cinema instead of AVP2, bad decision...ST was shite.
footiechick
Juno 7.5/10 If you get past the first 10 minutes (which I thought was a bad episode of Dawson's Creek), then it's very good. Ellen Page is excellent.
SaltyTON
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) Don't know quite what I'll give it so I'll talk myself into a mark by the time I'm finished writing this post! Well first off, I fell asleep as the first hour was boring as f**k! But it did improve a bit after I woke up and ended quite well, well enough to see why Rowling went to the bother of writing the next one (okay I don't know how the book ended, but have to assume something similar). Bonus points have to be awarded for Alan Rickman, Warwick Davis and Emma Watson's accent that was doing something that she wasn't old enough to do... Those 3 things put together with the ending, taking away the boredom of the first hour in to account, I'd say that a fair mark would be... 5/10

Virtual Insanity
Over the last couple of nights Edward Scissorhands Depp is good, but once he has the innocent, confused expression mastered he has nailed his role in this. Has some of the trademark Burton style, but not enough to make an otherwise very mediocre film enjoyable in the way so many of his other films are. 4/10 V for vandetta Stunning film, quite beautifully shot. Little in the way of complex acting required, although Tim Piggot-Smith I feel deserves a mention, but the dialogue and visuals are simply sublime. And it has Natalie Portman, possibly the only woman that can still look amazing with a shaved head. Has to challenge Sin City as my favourite graphic novel/comic adaptation of all time, certainly more in the way of substance than Sin City had. 9/10
staggy4life
Watched Click last night again. It is a comedy but every time i watch it, it brings a tear to my eye near the end. 7/10
Gaz
Cloverfield. It's possibly the only film of the last few years I'd consider giving a 10 out of 10 to. Absolutely terrifying, mind-blowing film that doesn't let up from 20 minutes in until the end.

Personally I thought it was utterly dire, and offered nothing new. The characters were annoying and had pretty much no redeeming features. All the reviews that I've seen in this thread have either been "utter shite" or "brilliant". Nothing in between

Nothing in between Without seeing the movie, just reading it's IMDb I'll make my mind up over whether I'll ever see it. Monster movie that isn't a horror - not a good start No-name cast - nothing to inspire there Director of David Schwimmer's "The Pallbearer" - I don't need to say more on that... Language - English/Russian - for a film set entirely in America, why? Double it's money in the States on opening weekend - usually a sign of either a great film, or extreme over-hype... can't say it was over-hyped so that at least is a good sign Average rating of 7.9 - usually a good sign Plot keywords - includes "hard hat" - if that is one of the most key issues to the film it's not looking great! They add an extra level to the Brooklyn bridge for some reason - no need to change facts, what next no bridge in Stirling? Meh, sounds shite, I'll give it a bye.
DomDom
No-name cast - nothing to inspire there Never something that has ever bothered me. I'd rather see a no-name cast than see a cast with names that I utterly despise. Anyways ... The Assassination of Jesse James ... ( 2007 ) Absolutely fantastic stuff here. Casey Affleck is just stunning in this one, and Brad Pitt plays his part to a tee. It lasts a long time, but if you bare with it, it'll definately be worth it. Terrific movie. Loses a point basically because of some of the strange fades to black. 9/10

For horror, I prefer a no-name cast, but when they've spent $30m on a "action" film you need at least someone you've heard of... not like a Johnny Depp or someone like that, but at least a B-lister!

DomDom
They must have been slightly obsessed with the whole "gritty realism" thing. Hence the no-name cast and the camcorders.
