What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

It's been a while since I've seen Invasion of the Body Snatchers but I agree pretty much with what you say there. You're far too generous with your rating for Zombie's Halloween. I'm a bit biased because the original has a very special place in my life but his effort is a pathetic mess (that is getting a sequel - though not by him).

It didn't need to be made, but surely you had to love the irony of Danielle Harris being killed by Myers whilst naked?

The cast was filled with some horror legends as well!

It's not a bad movie if you take it as just another modern horror, and look for the brilliance that is Danny Trejo lasting for an hour, rather a prequel/remake of the 1978 original.

American Beauty

Kevin Spacey is fantastic, he really is. And the characted he plays is a legend - doing what every middle-aged man would probably, secretly love to do - tell their boss to shove his job up his arse, tell the wife she's a "cold-blooded, money-grubbing freak" and generally get their life back.

9/10

That's exactly how I tried to take it, but Rob Zombie's absolute determination to delete all of the mystique that Michael Myers has made it impossible. He went from being "badass murderer" to "murderer that came from bad circumstances, so have some sympathy". Bullshit.

I was channel flicking during the half time in the Spanish Football on Sky and came across the Loch Ness Terror on Sci Fi 129. It was hilariously bad. I was able to go to the + 1 channel to see the end and was in stiches. I missed the 7th goal in the football because of it.

I found the trailer on YouTube: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hJsFtpu86g4&...feature=related

I caught the last half of that film as well. A classic WTF experience.

I watched Fright Night again the other night. Still stands up well and is very amusing. 7 or 8 /10

Octopus 2: River of Fear (2001)

We got the submarine/cruise ship destroying octopus in the first one, so where do we go? NYC of course, on July 4th 2000 when 20000 boats are in the harbour to watch the Independence Day fireworks.

Sounds simple enough, but no they hire an even more incompetent director and cast!

It could have got a bonus point if the annoying old bat and her dog had been killed. FAIL

Again a bonus point available if the octopus had destroyed the Statue of Liberty. That was a dream. FAIL

Only thing worthy of a point was Liberty Island, in a film with explosions set in NYC, being called Ground Zero. But that can justify its 1/10, nothing more.

Shark Swarm - 4/10

A property developer plans to force the residents of a coastal fishing town to sell up by dumping toxic waste in the sea which kills all the fish, therefore stopping any income. Not only does it kill the fish, it sends every shark in the sea fuckin mental, and they attack (in said swarms) anything and everything.

With a decent budget, this could've been half decent, if only to see 40/50 sharks at the one time attacking together. As it is, it's shitty CGI sharks who kill about 10/12 people in the film but you don't see anything.

Unintentional humour includes a little girl who sees her swim teacher killed by the sharks in about 6 feet of water, tries to tell her mother who tells her to shut up as she's on the fone. Next thing the same little girl, traumatised by the event, is having a beach birthday party (arranged by the retarded parents) who force her to go into the water on a lilo escorted by a 16 YO lifeguard who is killed by the sharks, yet nobody bar the little girl sees this or notices he's missing.

And my god, does Daryl Hannah look rough.

Guest Ally's honest man

The Bucket List 6/10

Jack Nicolson (billionaire hospital owner and cancer sufferer)

Morgan Freeman (cancer sufferer and room mate of JN)

Both given months to live and spend it jetsetting the world in a private jet to complete their bucket list (i.e. things to do before you die)

Decent sunday afternoon couch cuddle with the wife film. Oh add a few beers, wine and some munchies for the perfect experience.

Iron Man ( 2008 )

Brilliant action movie where there's not many times when there's not something happening. It also makes good use of the inevitable love story, if you can even call it that. There's most certainly hints of it, and they don't overdo it, which is where so many of these movies fail. Gwyneth Paltrow plays the part superbly as well, highlighted by her reaction to the girl Iron Man sleeps with at the start. I don't think there should be anymore of these movies. I just don't think there's much more they can do with it without it being dodgy.

8/10

Southland Tales - ?/10

Watched it on Sunday morning, not actually sure what to make of it. From the director of Donny Darko, it was pretty fragmented, despite having a reasonable cast. Even the ending didn't really make too much sense and reveal what the fucking hell the point of the film was.

Has anyone else watched the film and can shed some light on it?
