In the end it came down to two candidates and we struggled to separate which one to appoint as first choice candidate, and which one to have as a backup. Another guy on the panel started talking about the second candidate. "Well, his hands were shaking a bit, and he has grey hair even though he is younger than me. Maybe he has a medical condition. Yesterday was my last day at work before taking a few days off. One student emailed me 5 times in the space of 2 minutes, all full of words like 'Urgent'.
