Its something that we should look back on with immense pride. The SFA, the SPL, almost the entire Scottish media and even the chairmen of some clubs tried to threaten, bully and scare us into accepting it. We resisted. Not everyone. SPL Vote:- No to Newco Rangers:- Aberdeen Celtic Dundee United Heart of Midlothian Hibernian Inverness Caledonian Thistle Motherwell Ross County St Mirren St Johnstone Abstention:- Kilmarnock Yes to Newco Rangers:- Rangers SFL Vote to accept Newco Rangers in 1st Division Vote:- 29/30 SFL Clubs voted against this. (15/30 required) (Anonymous Vote) SFL Vote to accept Newco Rangers into the SFL (3rd Division):- 25/30 SFL Clubs in favour of this. (20/30 required) (Anonymous Vote) If Rangers received 6 less votes who knows what would've happened to them. Probably would've had to join a junior league or something .

Especially given that the Promotion/Relegation playoff between Division 3 and the Highland/Lowland league Champion hadn't been put in place yet. I would imagine the Lowland league would have accepted them and the playoff (which had been in the planning stages for a while) would probably have been expedited to start in 2012-13 and not 2014-15

Whilst googling, I stumbled across this delicious thread. Personal fave.... If there was a "disturbance" at TFS during the Falkirk Sevco game, that would be the announcers fault. http://forum.rangers-mad.co.uk/archive/index.php/t-899425.html I only got halfway down that thread - apart from a few sensible folk saying "Calm down, it was just a joke" they all seemed to be saying the same thing, namely "Boo hoo, it's no' fair, we're the greatest team in history and they're not treating us with the respect we deserve!" I did particularly like the guy who said "I hope his horrible wee club goes down the tubes". Like yours did, you mean?

We've had a couple I can think of off the top of my head, Hibs - Naturellement... Anyone else? We've not. We got the back pages of the Daily Record dedicated to us for a month when they were trying to sign Michael O'Halloran though. Plenty of "denying him his dream move" and "holding Rangers to ransom", because we didn't accept £50k in installments.

GordonS
So what's the league table of quality wind-ups in the Banter Years? I'm not immersed in this but I'd say: 1. Hibs. The real secret to their trolling is that they've not done anything for the purpose of winding Rangers up at all, it's just really great luck that it keeps working out that way. 2. Dundee Utd. Kings of the early years. The boycotted cup tie at Tannadice. That semi final at Ibrox. Good times. 3. Motherwell. 4. Raith Rovers, because of Turnbull Hutton's integrity, and the Challenge Cup win. 5. Celtic, but only for the on-field humiliations. 6. Stirling Albion for beating them while their manager was at a wedding. Anyone else?
