I don't see the reason why any subs were made at all last night, I was pretty confident of a win until he started changing things. I thought for the last 10 or 15 it would have been better to just tell them to fire balls into Amartey's corner and let him run at them. I know Raith are last minute specialists but can't help but think we aided them quite a lot in that.

The Amartey sub was strange but I get the impression Bullen does not trust him one bit off the ball. Ultimately in a game last night, attack in the best form of defence as both teams are going for it. McCall would never have subbed Amartey off but that’s where Bullen is a manager who thinks that games need to be locked down when a goal up. We don’t have the players to shut a game down though.

January might end up being more about getting a bit of depth in areas we’re already strong in however I do think we need to get someone in who can start in defence. With McGinty out for two weeks and Musonda away in January at some point it’s going to be tight for a bit but I’d quite like to see if we can get someone in to start alongside Stanger when he gets back. All depends on what is available I suppose.

Suspect the bigger issue might be who we're losing in January as opposed to who comes in. We could still bring players in and end up with a weaker squad than we have now.

I don’t think we’ll lost anyone we don’t want to. Dowds is staying and unless Dundee Utd have a change in manager I think we’ll hold onto Chalmers. Senga is an interesting one though. Before last night I would’ve been fine with him going back but there might be potential there for him at centre half.

I've said this before but Reading might recall him with the view of bringing him into their first team if they see he's doing well up here due to their situation.

Can we not lose Dowds if someone else decides to buy him? Unlikely as it seems but he is currently a goal scoring striker and there aren't lots of them about

Only if it's a team outwith Scotland as he's played for 2 clubs in Scotland already this season

He won't be able to play for anyone else this season. I don't see anyone else buying him in January if he won't be able to play for them this season.

Worldwide I'm afraid, there have been similar situations crop up before with international transfers down south and they couldn't send them on loan as they'd made a 1st team appearance.

On a completely different note, and something I was thinking last night.

I loved him but Dowds is a better all round footballer than Adeloye - so f**k knows what Partick were doing.

We should be doing all we can to sign him on a multi year deal. He's been better than I anticipated and he really gives us a focal point. He actually presses pretty well, holds it up and brings people in and can finish too. A real all rounder.

Aye, he is excellent and now allows us to play a system that suits the attacking quality we have. I just wish Bullen had realised that a bit earlier, instead of shoehorning a poor second striker in.

The league is so tight, if we can play like last night then we should be ok. A few injuries and we are fucked. On my shopping list would be another striker id look to keep rose and loan bryden however if we could add a 10 id be happy with rose going too.  id look to extend young and senga’s loan (senga can cover a few positions so helps with depth). Id look for a centre back as we are short there maybe one that can cover right back.

I'd be offering him and Chalmers perma-deals as a matter of upmost priority.

Also an additional centre-back would be good.

Amartey needs to be starting games from here on in. We need to find a way of getting him, Chalmers and Murphy into the same team. Best way to do that is probably a 4-2-3-1 with Murphy the centre of the 3.

I don’t really see us doing that much business in January. We all know the fullback areas remain a major issue but given we’ve waited for two years for it to be addressed I won’t hold my breath that  it’ll be sorted in January. We’ll definately need to bring in a centre half due to Musonda going to AFCON and his injury record. On the loan players I wouldn’t be against keeping them all, Dowds and Chalmers obviously the crucial ones however Jack Young was our best player last night and I really like him, I really like Senga aswell. Ahui isn’t great but is an improvement on McAllister. if we do keep Young and Senga I’d look at getting Paul Smith out on loan. Same with Bryden if we keep Dowds (think this has already pretty much been confirmed?)
