Nutz_the_Squirrel
The ‘public are arseholes’ line is just the excuse the govt are getting their media pals to push in order to push a lockdown situation with blame attached elsewhere. I’d much rather they were strong and set a more draconian directive- it would breed confidence in a scared society.

HeartsOfficialMoaner
Italy has a high number of deaths but this is mostly in the same region. We will see if the other regions go the same way as Lombardy soon enough. Lombardy may come down from it's peak then another region might start to climb. This is my biggest worry. There was a news story about Lombardy that they have stopped treating people over 60 years old as there is no room for them at the hospitals. This should be told to the people of the UK. If you have friends or relatives over 60 they might not get help from the NHS. It could help clear peoples heads and they can make better decisions.
Gaz
13 minutes ago, Donathan said: Way too many workplaces that are not “key” are still open This is because Westminster and Holyrood left a deliberately vague category in their descriptions of key workers, something like "those businesses vital to keep the country running". As a result any CEO with a whiff of self-importance will be convinced that their call centre is absolutely vital to keep the country going, and that they're justified in keeping it open.

Worktheshaft
While the overall case against traveling or setting up shop in the countryside is undoubtedly true, you have to admire the brass neck of all the teuchter bumpkins who want to set up a wicker man and burn all outsiders just to be on the safe side, when in any other March they'd be furiously turning their backwater into a shortbread tin scene to screw as much money from outsiders as possible during peak tourist season. 'Let London/Glasgow suffer so long as oor wee Barra is secure' is an understandable yet still distasteful sentiment IMO.It is not the fear that they may bring the virus. The virus is here. It is that there is not the health care capacity to deal with the increasing population. The rest of your comment is irrelevant nonsense.
