That was the rumour on Friday anyway when it was announced by the SPFL. This BBC article on UEFA suggests that the SPFL has acted too early - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52353856 "Uefa will provide an update on plans to finish the 2019-20 season to all its 55 national associations at a video conference on Tuesday. "Uefa has launched two working groups, one specifically assessing the fixture calendar. It is hoped specific proposals will be presented by mid-May at the latest. "Tuesday's meeting will be followed on Thursday by a meeting of the Uefa executive committee. "In addition, it is anticipated, Uefa will confirm that it will listen to requests to end domestic leagues early." "It has previously warned against this, saying countries risk their places in next season's European competitions." So has the SPFL sought and received official permission from UEFA to finish the season early? Probably not as UEFA is saying that it will only listen to requests. Has the SPFL's resolution to relegate teams before the end of the season been approved officially by UEFA? Probably not. What happens in Scotland if UEFA's working groups produce alternative plans that are incompatible with the SPFL's resolution? Panic and chaos presumably. IIRC (from news articles not personal experience obviously) they stopped researching a SARS vaccine soon after its much smaller epidemic came to an end as there was no commercial viability in the project, which is hardly going to be the case with this one right now. Or, if they do that, will every club just dive into administration? Or... Will so many clubs go into admin and take the deduction that everyone's basically starting on the same points anyway? If rules were relaxed I could see many using it as opportunity to wipe out debts that they shouldn’t have racked up and will use the corona virus as an excuse to pay it off for a relative pittance.
