What would temporary mean, 5 years would give any new set up a good run, stick in a review at that point.  Or does temporary mean until Hearts get a good team on the pitch?

Not necessarily as long as either of these.

Just long enough to prevent Hearts deserved relegation taking place at all.

She was apparently invited to join but never actually accepted. That was the rumour on Friday anyway when it was announced by the SPFL. Our fans director type person hinted that the club would confirm her position soon which appears to have happened now.

Dempster isn't daft - she has probably listened to some of the deranged nonsense coming from the chair of this shitshow and decided.........."nah"

You can't really blame her.

I have posted this in the Championship forum but it's very relevant here.

This BBC article on UEFA suggests that the SPFL has acted too early - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52353856

"Uefa will provide an update on plans to finish the 2019-20 season to all its 55 national associations at a video conference on Tuesday.

"Uefa has launched two working groups, one specifically assessing the fixture calendar. It is hoped specific proposals will be presented by mid-May at the latest.

"Tuesday's meeting will be followed on Thursday by a meeting of the Uefa executive committee.

"In addition, it is anticipated, Uefa will confirm that it will listen to requests to end domestic leagues early."

"It has previously warned against this, saying countries risk their places in next season's European competitions."

So has the SPFL sought and received official permission from UEFA to finish the season early? Probably not as UEFA is saying that it will only listen to requests.

Has the SPFL's resolution to relegate teams before the end of the season been approved officially by UEFA? Probably not.

What happens in Scotland if UEFA's working groups produce alternative plans that are incompatible with the SPFL's resolution? Panic and chaos presumably.

The SPFL hasn't finished and UEFA have absolutely no locus in how the SPFL organises it's leagues.

Was there not a proposal/plan at one point (pre-SPFL) to have a 2nd tier as part of the SPL or am I mis-remembering?

Yes, SPL2. It was a terrible, dreadful idea that luckily went nowhere.

It was first talked about circa 2006 I think:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_div_1/5369244.stm

There was chat off and on a few years after:

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/blog/2009/feb/27/ewan-murray-spl2-scottish-football-league

Then there was a lot of chat about it when Rangers died as they tried to get it going with Sevco being parachuted directly in to it. This article has some pretty offensive and sickening views:

Just a reassuring wee fact - we have never yet succeeded in producing a vaccine to any of the coronaviruses.  So I should not hold your breath on that Get Out Of Jail Free card.

There's been no need to produce a vaccine for any coronavirus before COVID-19. Plus it would be a costly waste of time, which is why no one has done it.

They are producing a vaccine for this one though, because there is a need to do so. And they will produce one.

Are you saying that The Championship, League One and League Two are not finished despite the resolution?

https://spfl.co.uk/news/spfl-resolution-approved-by-clubs-in-all-four-di

THE SPFL HAS ANNOUNCED THAT THE DIRECTORS’ WRITTEN RESOLUTION ENDING SEASON 2019/20 IN THE LADBROKES CHAMPIONSHIP, LADBROKES LEAGUE 1 AND LADBROKES LEAGUE 2, HAS BEEN PASSED WITH AGREEMENT BY 81% OF ALL MEMBERS.

ETA - UEFA is the governing body for European football - https://www.uefa.com/insideuefa/about-uefa/what-uefa-does/. The SFA does what UEFA tells it do. If UEFA Executive Committee says that the 2019-20 season must be finished in all divisions, the SPFL must obey.

The SPFL as a whole isn't finished, which is what he said.

We have been attempting  to create a vaccine against SARS for a some time, with no success.

IIRC (from news articles not personal experience obviously) they stopped researching a SARS vaccine soon after its much smaller epidemic came to an end as there was no commercial viability in the project, which is hardly going to be the case with this one right now.

The overall point however should stand that no sane society should be waiting around indefinitely on a vaccine before resuming normal life and any public health official or politician who thinks so would likely face significant social disobedience and disorder.

I wonder if the administration points deduction rules will be relaxed around this. Or, if they do that, will every club just dive into administration?

Or... Will so many clubs go into admin and take the deduction that everyone's basically starting on the same points anyway?

Even with the prize money, a lot of clubs are going to be in a perilous state here.

I would hope not. If rules were relaxed I could see many using it as opportunity to wipe out debts that they shouldn’t have racked up and will use the corona virus as an excuse to pay it off for a relative pittance.
Would only encourage clubs to do so and wouldn't be a good look for the Scottish game.
