Still more believable (and less lazy) than that lassie in stilettos outrunning a T-Rex in Jurassic Park 4 (or whatever). yes, a completely played out trope in yet another "bird" in a cocktail dress and high heels out-running a T-Tex whilst doing gymnastics in a Matrix-like manner.
19QOS19
Going through The X Files the now and there's a fair amount of the classic 'I have a gun pointed at you, you're hands are up and yet you still manage to get out of that situation and run away'.

KnightswoodBear
Really slow car chases in TV shows. I realise this is probably a budgetary thing, but you have these car chases that have the sound effects of revving engines and high tempo music, but if you put it on mute and watch it, everyone is doing about 10mph

A dog paddling next to a warping ship could outrun it.

The film "The Seven Ups" has a famous car chase, similar to "Bullitt" but set in Manhattan. (Stunt driver Bill Hickman is involved in both films as well as "The French Connection"). At one point in the film they have to cross a bridge but the authorities insist they have to stick to the speed limit. It was a nightmare. Other cars on the bridge were keeping pace or even going past. Eventually they resorted to long shots but even then the bridge scene was heavily edited to avoid it looking silly.
Savage Henry
Absolutely everything about that Boston Strangler movie is a hackneyed cliché. Every single line, every character is pretty much how Hollywood thinks journalism works.
scottsdad
The wife watches a lot of true crime TV. The ID channel, for instance. One thing I've noticed about these shows is that every murder victim is a brilliant person - they light up the room, kind, generous, etc. etc. They get eulogised every time. Nobody ever says "It's a shame Jimmy was murdered, but he was a bit of an arsehole."

Similar as when someone goes missing and it’s all “it’s so out of character” and about how nothing was wrong in their life. Then you find out they’ve just split up with the wife and are 10 grand in debt etc.

Its amazing how when the plot requires it someone can fall 3 stories onto a car and roll off it with minor injuries, but bad guy near the end of the show falls one story onto a car its game over lol
coprolite
The hero has a climactic fight with the baddie and puts the baddie down. He then goes to the distressed damsel to comfort her but wait!… the baddie’s not dead, he was just unconscious and has now recovered! He’s standing over the hero covered in blood and away to shoot/ stab/ laser the goodies. But wait!….. suddenly the baddie collapses to reveal the hero’s mate who got put down earlier standing behind him with a smoking gun/ bloodied sword. phew.

Not just played out in TV and films, it seems. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/apr/27/us-rapper-moneysign-suede-killed-in-prison-aged-22 Officials from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation said the rapper, real name Jaime Brugada Valdez, died on Tuesday evening “with injuries consistent with a homicide”. He was being held at a prison in Soledad, where since January he had been serving a 32-month sentence on gun charges. A lawyer for Valdez, Nicholas Rosenberg, told the LA Times that officials had said Valdez had been stabbed, and that an investigation was under way. “People are very shocked,” Rosenberg said. “He was a very popular guy, very mild-mannered. People loved him.”
Bert Raccoon
Same with Serial Killers, "he was a quiet man, always kept himself to himself" so would you if your house was full of mutilated body parts
