I am not intending to attack grass pitches or any club, so there is no need to come on and defend your clubs pitch. As a but, can you honestly say there are no grass pitches in the WOS, to use the cage vernacular, that are not fit for purpose. I can think of a few off top of my head.

I am merely pointing out that with the wetter weather, for longer periods, that is forecasted for the future it is and will become an issue.

Games are being called off because of waterlogged pitches later into the season an e.g. Nithsdale Wanderers v Lochar Thistle Mon April 29th; waterlogged pitch. How many clubs are playing catch up because of the weather. Are any of the astro pitch clubs doing this? Down here in the SOS Newton Stewart, astro, finished league season before end of March whilst other clubs were playing at least 2 games a week to catch up.

I am not saying rip up all grass pitches, I know there are some brilliant grass pitches. My own local WOS club Threave have, as I'm sure plenty will testify, a wonderful grass pitch. But because of its location next to a natural wetland the area in front of the chip shop stand is a constant problem, and it's not improving.

I also don't get this attitude to astros. I grew up playing on the red ash in Glasgow, so when we played finals at Nethercraigs, Pollok Park or Roseberry; it was wonderful. Also I have played and coached on grass and astro since the 80's, both surfaces come with good and not so good points.

I know there are issues with injuries and longevity of playing on astro, but have also seen injuries caused by grass pitches.

But, as football fans do we want our game to die because grass is only playable for a few months of the year? (a doomsday scenario).

To finish the council sports centre cages have no place outside youth and ammie football.

Good for training at senior league level but not for matchday.

You said folk wanted games to be played on muddy fields that have grass for two weeks in July. The above would have been better.

Could not have said it any better.

Still no happy? but I keep forgetting that he is a physio, a pitch specialist, a football agent, a contract lawyer, and knows everything about everything.
Not a Darvel fan but knows how they think the pitch was constructed and “knows” Syme is on the move. I hope that’s not true. But if it their reliable source that they use to get in the know for all of the above, then I’ll pass.
the under 20s comment is a low blow. Presuming it was to big them up. I’m sure that’s the only reason for saying as they were outstanding last night.

You missed expert on all things Clydebank and an oracle

I know that, but sometimes you have to be a bit lyrical to get a response. I like to think I'm making some valid points though. I do get annoyed with those that just dismiss astros out of hand.

I have good experience over the years of both and yes a good grass pitch is always preferable, but if the weather keeps going the way it is. I prefer football on astros to no football or football on 'muddy fields'  😁😁

Really embarrassing.

Why is it embarrassing ? It's common sense I'm surprised more club's are not moving to friday.

It's embarrassing, because the entire football psyche in this country revolves around 2 clubs. I can be classed as being a fan of one them, but I will be at Meadow Park watching a game then off to St.Mary's in Kirkcudbright to watch a local cup final.

I personally am sick of how virtually everyone sucks up to these 2. They are not Scottish Football.

Whether you like it or not people can choose to watch who they want when they want why go against a match of this magnitude when the simple thing is move your own your never going to beat it.

Because they're a pair of scumbag clubs with scumbag fans. Wouldn't open my curtains to watch them if they were playing out the back door.

The question is nothing to do what you think of the club's or their fans when they play each other people will want to watch them and that has an impact on attendances .

Ok so if that's all it was, you'd never be able to play fixtures as tv football is a seven days a week feast. There is always an attractive match on the telly. It's more about players and officials greetin" that they want to see it and them putting it before their own team. That's the embarrassment.

The teams will get bigger crowds than they would on the Saturday.

Suits me this weekend, I've got to work 2/5 weekends so would've missed the game ,although getting to see the glens is a bit of a mixed blessing
