Israel isn't keen on genetic testing in case Palestinians have more genetic links to ancient Israel than Ashkenazi Jews, who may have converted to Judaism at a much later date while having no ancestral roots in the land now called Israel. I think tracing language and customs is more meaningful and interesting than genetics though, if you go back 6 generations there is very little in genes and characteristics to link you to an ancestor.

Probably more connected than you think 6 generations ago especially in rural Scotland in the 19th century.

Well into First Cousin marriage territory certainly by any generation before that.

You're not wrong.

Breast cancer gene found in multiple families in USA linked to an individual from Scotland 300 years ago.

UK (and world wide) breast cancer genes linked to Westray on Orkney.

Funnily enough, the similar breast cancer gene is also found in high numbers in the Ashkenazi Jews.

You'd think they'd change that name.

The Celtic v Killie thread is taking an interesting turn. The prospect of Palestinian flags at the game seems to have triggered some stuff.

Oh aye, a discussion on a football forum about a football match in a pretty poor league in a relatively small country in northern Europe that doesn't even run its own affairs is the very place to discuss millennia old land disputes in the middle east.

Are the disputes millennia old?

Gutted at that, I was quite enjoying it. I didn't see a heads gone so much as @Hoose Rice getting wired in to the Celtic support and refusing to listen to some pretty patient Celtic fans inviting him to consider a bit more nuance in his take.

All pretty tame tbh.

Hoose Rice was being an absolute dick with the child abuse shite though
