Leith Green
Elaine C Smith in an Italian restaurant in Edinburgh before the Niles Rogers gig - she seemed a decent sort, and we then bumped into her and her pals inside the venue as well.

A decent sort ? Her support for the odious wee bigot Brian Souter and his 'Keep The Clause' campaign would suggest otherwise.

I was only talking about the person I met in a restaurant mate, I wasnt aware of that issue (in which case I take it back !!). Its difficult to keep up with whos who in the "Good guy, Good guy, w**k" stakes these days as I rarely venture onto social media
get_the_subbies_on
As a youngster, in the early 70s, my dad lifted me out of the terracing at Tannadice and onto the pitch to get some autographs. Managed to get Colin Stein and John Greig to sign the book. Greig dropped his raffle tickets when he went to sign my book, so, and much to the amusement of the travelling support, he had me chasing around the pitch to collect them as he signed. Attended an open football coaching session at Dawson Park, Dundee about the same time with Hamish MacAlpine and Gordon Wallace. With my family in the mid 70s crossing the street when we lived abroad and my mum spotted Robert Redford crossing towards us. She did that silent “that’s Robert Redford” and he nodded and smiled as he went on his way. In the early/mid 80s, working at a hotel in Broughty Ferry, I once accidentally dropped some roast potatoes on Richard Gough’s lap when he was a wedding guest there. (In his United days). He didn’t see the funny side. Sitting in one of the Scottish Airports, my wife spotted Billy Connolly sitting quietly undisturbed - it was the first time he’d been seen in public after shaving the trademark beard off - no one recognised him and I was too starstruck to approach him. Was almost run off the road by the Queen in her Range Rover on the back roads around Ballater. Had a brief conversation in broken Spanish with Claudio Caniggia and some of the other DFC Argentinians in the Casino in Dundee. (For clarity, my Spanish was broken, not his) When going through my coaching badges, one of the sessions was led by Jimmy Bone (hilarious). Finally, most recently of all, I’ve had my photo taken with Olly Murrs when he was at the Slessor Gardens and chatted to the 1 Direction boys in London. Disappointingly, they were all very nice. (James Cordon was an arse though)
hk blues
Windsor Davies in Lord Street, Southport. Saw David Beckham in Selfridges with wee Brooklyn in Manchester but it was no more than a nod so I won't count that as meeting.

steelmen
I was 2 rows in front of Elaine C Smith at a Billy Connelly show, lovely woman. Shared a lift with Alan Shearer in a London hotel, happy enough to chat away me. met Leann Rimes in Austin airport. She was tiny but really nice to everyone that said hello / wanted a picture.

Cosmic Joe
Mostly guests at Bayview. Ken Buchanan (RIP) was a regular. Val McDiarmid was a good laugh. Henry McLeish etc. Sean Connery's appearance was as fleeting as his time on the park with us.. -

Some lass (despite being a rubber bumper). Shes the only Dame I know but another work colleague’s uncle became Lord Muff for a short while a few years back. Inherited title apparently. Yorkshire Muffs.

Rael Rover
Roger Daltry on music cruise. Wife and I sitting on sun loungers and he sat down beside us for 20 minutes chatting away. Really down to earth and some great stories. Back in 1981 then Thatcher Employment Minister Jim Prior fell over my desk on an office visit!
PossilYM
Big Ian Paisley in a dingy second hand bookshop beside Kelvinbridge subway station one wet midweek morning about 30 odd years ago. He was with a minder/detective. He even said hello which i suppose was no big deal considering i was the only other customer in the shop. Turns out he was a collector of old bibles. Not surprising considering he was a Christian fundamentalist. On a side note, turns out Ian Paisley's mother came from one of those tiny villages on the Stirling to Balloch Road. Not exactly Bridgeton Cross although there was a really sinister story from about 10 years back of young fella from the same area being murdered in a place called Tobermore in N. Ireland. Think George Best might have played for the local team for about 5 minutes. Anyway the young lad from West Stirlingshire ended up at some loyalist flute band parade. Nobody was ever charged with his murder.
