What do you mean “since”…as it currently stands, this is surely ahead of that little pothole. There are three ways this ends: 1) The club staggers on for a few years and folds 2) The club releases Goodwillie. 3) Goodwillie comes out with an amazingly contrite statement and starts volunteering for Rape Crisis Lines etc. 3 isn’t happening…1 is underway…2 might take a buyout of Sims.

Cardle is Magic
FM says it would be “appropriate” for the SPFL to take action but don’t see how that’s possible? They clearly had no issue with him playing for another member club.

There was a lawyer on BBC Scotland this morning, I only caught the end of the interview, but in summary if he apologies it can be seen as an admission of guilt and the legal case can then be reopened. The only reasonable option would be for him to be released.

Raith Against The Machine
2 hours ago, Against The Machine said: I think Karen Macartney has always had more of an operational role than you might expect from a CEO at this level. All the talk when she was appointed was about strengthening ties in the community, building off-field infrastructure, and the likes. If you look at the initial announcement and her interview in the Courier there's very little about on the field matters. The impression I had at the time was that Karen Macartney would be there to run the wider Raith Rovers "organisation" but that the actual first team would still be reserved to the board. I've no idea what input she had on this Goodwillie process. She could be totally for it or dead against it, but she didn't have a vote when it came to the crunch. As you say, she's a paid employee. It's not as straightforward as just walking out like it is for volunteers or board members who've made their money elsewhere, but like it or not, she does have a responsibility to comment here. I don't want to be all Humza Yousaf and it feels very regressive to keep on focusing on what "the wummin" think about it all, but like it or not Karen Macartney is the CEO of an organisation that's made an incredibly contentious decision, and she's on record (in the interview above) extolling her own virtues as a woman in football. Alan Temple reporting that Macartney did indeed negotiate the deal.

It’s done, yes, but can slowly recover. Honestly, the better option is 3…perhaps led by women like Val McD, buying out Sims.
Florentine_Pogen
An excellent post on the Raith forum last night made mention of the fact that DG has been flying under the radar for 4 / 5 years and that he started playing lower tier / part-time just before the #MeToo movement really took off.

You might be surprised at how many in football live in a bubble, even at this level. It's quite clear Falkirk tried and there'll have been a few more astute Directors that have chased managers and colleagues who wanted to sign him. Got to disagree there with the “It’s quite clear Falkirk tried” bit. It really isn’t. There hasn’t been a single shred of evidence to support that our Board made any approach……..none. There is of course, a possibility that we did try, but that’s no more possible than any other club trying. The same rumour comes up repeatedly, and it has never got beyond that. Unless Clyde or Falkirk provide evidence supporting there being an approach, then no-one can make a clear assertion that FFC did try.

Disagree, publicly boot him out the club sack a few board members, staff and issue an apology for the action of a few individuals and we go from Wanks to Good guys. This has to be done ASAP though to minimise the damage.
Florentine_Pogen
Serious question for the Rovers folk (although totally hypothetical atm), but if there was a way forward for a fan / community buyout of the club, including the ground, what sort of ballpark figure are you talking about ?
buchan30
Not sure what the rovers keeper was doing at the third goal. DreadfulTo be fair to Macdonald, it does swerve at as it’s travelling through the air. He thought it was coming straight at him, then it changes direction. Some strike though.
