Firstly I'm not having a go here this is just getting something off my chest as a few folk keep using this phrase to call Ukraine.

It's just called Ukraine not 'the Ukraine'.  That was what the Russians referred it as during soviet times.  So it's a possessive phrase and given the reasoning given for this war it is inappropriate.

Heavy Sevco club/company vibes rn.

The Ruble is in free fall and the Russian economy on the brink of collapse. See how long it takes for the police and security forces to stop beating the shit out protesters, and actually join their side when they realise they’re not getting paid.

£1 to the Ruble on 31st Mar was 0.0096. 1 month later 28th Feb (today) it's 0.0090.  The ruble is not in free fall at the moment.  It will take about another 10 days to start to kick in.

Liz Truss yesterday in her interview was taking about weeks and months before sanctions hit hard & they will hit us(you) also. That's the Russians banned all foreign investors from selling any Russian held  stock.  Expect you electricity & gas bills going through the roof.

Russian tanks running out of petrol when the entire country is a petrol station.

Boris Johnson levels of fuckwittery.

Reminds me of the quote from Nye  Bevan - “Britain is an island made almost entirely of coal and surrounded by fish. It must take an organisational genius to produce a shortage of fish and coal at the same time”

What a horrible little shithouse backwater the UK is.

Also despite the above and accepting she's a much better shadow Home Sec than that Nick Thomas-Symonds character, I'm not convinced Starmers Labour party entirely obsessed with humping the legs of the brexity arsehole Northern voter would be any better in government.

It’s currently trading at 0.007.

Leaving to one side the fact that the Russians are already in the air over Ukraine and that to impose any no fly zone they would have to be "persuaded" to leave, it would mean the West operating potentially hundreds of aircraft right up to the border of actual Russia.

You see how much hullabaloo and tallyho there is when a Bear or once or twice their Blackjacks or Backfires come within a couple of hundred miles of Shetland and Lossiemouth scrambles a pair of Typhoons and the BBC go all damp and patriotic about it? Imagine that x100 literally 0 miles from the territory with the second largest air force in the world and with the most recent air to air combat experience?

Aye, the problem is that you only get a no fly zone by shooting down the Russian air force, and suppressing air defences with range to hit targets over Ukraine, which in turn  would require actually blowing up stuff inside Russia (assuming you wanted a no fly zone over the whole place)

No doubt NATO would rout the Russians. The USAF and USN have the first and third largest air forces on their own. The Europeans have far more modern aircraft and more enablers like tankers, awacs and drones.... but to establish the no fly zone would be to literally declare War on Russia, and 5 minutes after you'd shot their air force out of the sky, it would be Mr artifical sunshine on the horizon.

It most certainly is. Are you maybe getting GBP and USD mixed up?

It was .013 a month ago and .009 this morning.

GBP is opening at .007, not .009.
