Welly boy
Not life threating but the east stand roof at Mcdiarmid needs looked at, getting dripped on for 90mins pissed me well off.

Light in the North Stand needs fixed too. The club are probably on that though

That's actually a feature of modern stadia. Architects don't seem to be able to grasp the idea that stands are supposed to keep spectators sheltered from the wind and the rain

On 01/01/2023 at 18:57, HibeeJibee said: No idea. Their registered capacity was 10,169 for 1989-90 + 1990-91 then became 10,721 for 1991-92. It subsequently became 10,673 for 1996-97 then 10,723 for 2000-01. SPFL now have it as 10,696. On 01/01/2023 at 19:24, Jamie_Beatson said: There were rows of seats added in I think all the stands in what would originally have been walkways. They’re located in parts of the stands where there isn’t a crush barrier separating the walkway from the seats in the front area of the stand - basically in parts where there isn’t a tunnel leading to the concourse. I don’t know if that accounts for all the added seats but it can’t be far off as they’re present in all the stands. I think at its maximum the capacity was 10,723 and that’s since been reduced slightly to allow for additional camera positions at the back of the stands and for a new disabled area in the away end of the Main Stand. That’s one area where McDiarmid Park is relatively good compared even to stadia that have come since - the viewing areas for wheelchair supporters have always been fairly well elevated, and the new area for away fans in the Main Stand is excellent. Fairly sure it was after the first season at McDiarmid, where we averaged 6000 in the first division (current championship), including two sell outs. There was concern the ground was nowhere near big enough for demand in the premier. If it wasn’t that season then at the very latest it was the season afterwards where we averaged 9000 at home in the first season back up in the top league. As JB said, the club put in seats in the walkways and an extra row at the very back in the East, North and South Stands.

Is it not just a couple of steel posts that have pinned hinge connections at the top to allow to them to be swung up out of the way when games are on? The roof will have been designed to take certain wind loads and the design will allow for a reduced probability of those happening during a game so that the roof can resist the lower wind loads without the additional support. There will probably be a similar judgement applied to potential snow loading and this will have been part of the original design so will remain the case unless they rebuild the stand.

AyrshireTon
There was mention of the colours of seats a page or two ago - when the plastic benches were put in the Wee Dublin End in 1981-2, the benches were red, blue and yellow (but faded very quickly). This still from a derby in 1983 is the only thing I could find that sort-of shows this.

There is a simple fix for restoring the colour of plastic seats involving a blow torch .....

These images don’t show the impact it has had. Outstanding effort by all concerned. Some of the old photos were rescued from the hospitality suite when they were supposedly heading to the local dump. The hall of fame images have been in place for years, but now the fans have added their stamp on the ground and there are further improvements planned. Well done everyone involved! This is absolutely tremendous work, well done to all involved. Would love to see something at RP but the issue that we have is that underneath the Moffat, East and Chadwick stands is exposed to the elements so any artwork wouldn't last as long. Still, the murals that have appeared in the last few years are great and I'd love to see more. Even at Glasgow Perthshire, where local kids have had the opportunity to create artwork across the ground with spray paint art, artwork can be used to give a real sense of identity and character to a ground.
