Clarke finally bows down to fan pressure.

Well, you were right in that he gave him a chance and wanted to see how he got on against top level opposition, so fair play to you. I think he did okay, no worse really than Dykes or Adams did to be fair to him - but he didn't do any better. If Adams or Dykes had missed the chance he did then people on here would have been saying that Shankland would've scored it.

I dunno, he didn't convince me tonight, but I thought he did okay - some good, some bad but mostly a bit anonymous. It's wasn't an easy game for him. Glad he got the chance in the end.

I would agree with that. Not a stand out between the three.

Still appears to be plenty of tickets available for tomorrow’s game.
Perhaps some fans aren’t prepared to pay that much for a midweek friendly that’s also live on council TV.

I don’t see any available in the upper South Stand, so that’s either sold out or not available!

I will be there regardless and hope that we can return to winning ways.

I thought about going to this one, but I'm still leaning towards just giving it a miss. I think given Scotland are likely to put out a strong team to get a victory it could be a good game to go to and it's still on my mind to go, but probably won't.

I haven't even looked at tickets, but it's not that surprising to me this hasn't sold out given the expense of following Scotland this year and it being FTA.

I did contemplate grabbing a late ticket, but for me and my mates it's the price for a friendly that's put us off. Added to the cost of travel from Dumfries & Galloway, the Nations League tickets, plus of course a wee trip to Germany in the summer, you have to draw the line somewhere.

Thought I'd chuck up the game time received by each player over the camp. It includes injury time as that plays a more important role nowadays. I wanted to point out that Shankland and Ferguson did okay for minutes on the pitch across the camp. There seems to be a myth that they didn't get enough game time, but they both played close to 90 minutes over the two games. Feel free to check the numbers if you disagree.

3 of the goalkeepers, the 2 injured players and Greg Taylor saw no action. I don't know who else people wanted to see more of John Souttar? Anthony Ralston? or Greg Taylor? fair enough maybe one of the keepers, but I reckon Steve Clarke has spread the minutes out okay on the whole.

I was surprised he didn't play a different keeper last night. I'm not sure what seeing Gunn for another 90 minutes added, although I accept he missed the last three games so maybe Clark feels he saw enough of Kelly and Clark in those. To me he was avoiding the issue of sending signals about whether Gordon was likely in or not. Personally, if he's seriously entertaining taking Gordon to Germany then I think he should have played Northern Ireland as Cooper did. Not that he'd have seen a lot action anyway but just getting him involved competitively again and adding to his caps total. I'm concerned that not playing him suggests he decided he wasn't ready.

One for the stattos out there. How many teams this century have used three goalkeepers in the same tournament?

In the World Cup it had only ever happened four times pre 2010 (and the most recent was 16 years before that), but I’m not sure whether it’s happened since or how many times it’s happened in the euros.

The point I’m trying to make is that your third keeper is so rarely used that I think you’re better off using the spot creatively. By that I mean:

- An experienced old head that can help mentor the other guys (Gordon presumably)

- A really young hope for the future

- A penalty shootout specialist if you have one

I think just taking Liam Kelly along for the sake of it is a terrible idea.

Not checked stats for any more examples (if any) but Netherlands used their 3 keepers at the 2014 World Cup albeit the other 2 were very brief appearances. Jasper Cillissen was first choice, Tim Krul replaced him at the end of ET in a knockout game for the penalty shootout then I think it was Michel Vorm got a couple of mins at the end of their win over Brazil in the 3/4 place play off.

The latter was just to give him some time on the pitch in a game that didn't matter though. That's a bit different to them actually having needed to use three keepers.

I know that, I was just giving an example in answer to his question at the beginning of his post. I agree with his general point about being smart with the 3rd choice.

I think we've earned the right to have some fun with our next friendly choices and rack up a scoreline against an Aruba, an Anguilla, or a Northern Ireland.

How are we feeling about the June fixtures? Finland's form has been spiralling after a good start to their qualifiers, and they just got ridden hard by Wales. They did, however, beat Northern Ireland home and away. If we don't beat Gibraltar then...good lord. Maybe they're lulling everyone into a false sense of security. Yeah, that'll be it.

Weird stat I just noticed - of the 24 nations at the tournament, the only ones to have qualified for fewer Euros than us are Albania, Slovenia, and Georgia.

I’m looking forward to the Finland game. A Friday night in June, hopefully decent weather - although I thought the same when I was buying Georgia tickets last year - and a chance to get the kilt/shorts on.  Everyone happy because we’re playing Germany 🇩🇪 in the opener in a weeks time. What’s not to like?

As long as they don’t pick up injuries to key players and don’t actually lose, then everyone goes away happy.

I'm fine, still looking forward to the summer. The friendlies havent affected my opinion and the June ones will tell us next to nothing.

I think we can qualify from the group if we perform something near our maximum. I'm not expecting to qualify so best case 2nd, worst case 4th. If I had to pick then 3rd. Randomness (VAR, injuries, other results etc) may work for or against us.

Random and pointless piece of trivia that popped into my head last night but thought someone might appreciate: the Netherlands defeat was the first time we'd lost in the month of March since the Kazakhstan humiliation in 2019.

SSC email out with the survey about intention to go to the Gibraltar game. Not sure why they need to know numbers when the allocation should just be as many as we can sell considering the opposition and location. Also mentions it's highly likely to be 100% pickup.

Yeah got it last night. Would have preferred a "maybe" option in the survey as that's where I'm at. I appreciate that's not much use to them though. I plumped for "yes" but I'm far from certain to go. I'd like to but there are financial considerations having gone to Amsterdam, plus we have a big inspection at work currently scheduled for the following week. We're trying to get it deferred as nobody wants an inspection the first week of the damned Euros! But if it isn't deferred I won't be able to go to Gibraltar anyway.

How does pick up work? I've never had to do that. Do they literally set up somewhere outside the ground immediately before the game or is it previous day or something? Depending on how far ahead of the game you need to pick up there are presumably travel ramifications? Games on the Monday with KO still to be confirmed but presumably evening. I'd probably travel Sunday at some point if going. Actually now I've worked out it's still in school term and I'd have to pull the boy out of school for two days again I'm less likely to go anyway. They weren't happy with taking him out for two days to go to Amsterdam and that was the last two days of term!

It varies depending on how accommodating the local FA are about stadium pickup but generally there'll be a pickup point at a hotel the day before and day of the game and then pickup point at the stadium a couple of hours before kick off.

For this one there'll be people staying in various holiday resorts so there will need to be stadium pickup if they are making it 100% collection.
