From memory. Were Celtic not struggling against Killie when Annoni was about to come on as a sub, and the cry went up from one fan, “Awe naw, no Annoni an awe!”?

I’ve heard that as well. Not sure who was the opposition. And it was after a flurry of substitutes…“Awe naw! No Annoni own anaw nooo”.

Not sure he meets all the criteria because he was actually a very good goalkeeper, but for me Sieb Dijkstra is one of the biggest cult heroes in my time supporting Motherwell.

The Pornstar moustache, gareish paintsplash jersey, catching cross balls out by the penalty spot and his mazy runs around defenders that used to send Wee Tommy mad, made him a huge fans favourite.

Unlike the current Motherwell team, corners and freekicks were nothing to worry about.

Seeeeeeeeiiiiiibbbbbb!!!!!!

certainly gets my vote!

Big Sieb has to be up there - a very good player and excellently hirsute to boot.

I would like to add:

Colin O’Neill

Steve ‘Supersub’ Kirk

Said Chiba

Daniel Sengewald

Abel Thermeus - The Flask

Holm Kraska

I can't remember anything at all about Scheidt except his name. Was he in ANY way decent??

I completely forgot Don Cowie played for Hearts.

I thought he was an excellent servant for Hearts. Model pro, always put a good shift in and seemed like a decent fella.

4 reds in one match, then topped that with 5.

Husref Musemic

Bosnian player who only played 6 games for Hearts, and scored 3 goals, but he did manage a winner in a derby match against the wee team, so he's up there as a cult hero.

Хусреф Мусемић — Википедија

Similarly short lived at Tynecastle, but  Género Zeefuik must be worth a shout.

Round as a ball of butter, but 12 goals in 15 games in our first time in the championship, including a three minute hat-trick against Dumbarton and two in the dead rubber final game of the season against Rangers to grab what, without him, seemed an unlikely draw.

Then he was gone, off to Turkey, never to be seen in Scotland again.

Didn’t really get to see much of him tbh, probably just didn’t have what was required. Celtic sign 5mil Brazilian and got punted out on loan as fast as he he arrived.

A few years ago when Aberdeen played some of their reserve/under 21 games at Links Park on weekday afternoons, I was in the stand at a game against Dundee United. Dave Bowman was part of the coaching staff for United and sat in the front row of the stand. I'm certainly no shrinking violet, but his language throughout the match was absolutely disgusting. No idea why someone from the United official parry didn't cool him down.

He's still at it. Tried to square go a load of Utd fans who were giving the players pelters after an abject performance v Spartans (iirc) in the League Cup group stage earlier this season.

Think a lot of people mixing up good/favourite players with cult heroes.

As a Hearts fan with no allegiance at all to Dundee Utd I’d suggest the ultimate cult hero across Scottish fitba as the aforementioned Davie Bowman.

More famous (infamous?) for his disciplinary record than his football ability but loved for it.
