Zoltan Varga. Was only with us a short time but what a pler! Something to do with a scandal meant he ended up with us.

ETA The late Ally Shewan

Ernie McGarr

Don't care about Zoltan, prince of darkness,...

But Ernie McGarr is a lovely chap.

And, anyway,...I'm sort of glad that you young things remember & realise how good some of us old feckers ( not me ) actually were.

My uncle told me that when I was playing for Bonnybridge. Except he was talking about my cousin.

Easy game...kick it that way.

From a Celtic perspective, probably the biggest 'cult hero' in my 47 years on the planet was, in all honesty a guy who never even played for the club, I'd imagine he is equally as revered by Hibernian supporters of a similar age.

A good shout for a cult hero for us Dees as well - without those 2 goals his career at Dens would have remarkably average, at best.

Not many players who never played for your club become legends for those fans.

The fact that Albert Kidd has Celtic supporters clubs, buses and an annual day of celebration must be up there with a good shout for top spot.

He never struck me as a particular good player but his second goal that day at Dens was sublime.

The fact that Sandy Clark is still permanently raging about Albert Kidd all these decades later kinda makes it sweeter.

Some quite recent Ayr ones.

David Bangala, aka "The Ghost" due to him not appearing for the club for months after the season started due to a delayed work permit. I refuse to believe he was actually a professional footballer elsewhere - convinced Lee Bullen got a call from George Weah's cousin before signing him.

Michael Moffat - We signed him from Maybole Juniors when he was already 26! Just an exceptional striker. For a few years he was the man that single handedly prevented us sliding towards League 2. He returned in 17/18 and played alongside Shankland up top, probably the best partnership I've seen at Ayr.

Jamie Adams - aka "The Big Fermer". Career that had been ravaged by injuries, he had been playing with Wigtown and Bladnoch in the SoS league when we signed him. A technically gifted footballer he was not, but he always gave 100% and was hard as f**k. Had a wee nasty streak in him too. The kind of guy you absolutely love if he plays for your team, but hate if he is against you. Retired at 31 through injury and now just works on the farm.

For me it has to be Pascali and big Derek McDicken. Big D was hard as nails, took no prisoners, had an outrageous ‘tash and even drove a ginger lorry FFS.

Can’t believe Dougie Rougvie hasn’t been mentioned by Dons fans tho’. If my memory serves me right, he once walked over to the jungle at Ceptic Park at the start of one game, turned around and flashed his arse to the mutants therein.

Tam Turner had an “argument” with a supporter which resulted in him being sent to QotS on loan.

Tom Hendrie took over from Tony Fitzpatrick and recalled Tam.

Tam then went on to lift the 1st Division championship in 00/99.

Former Morten players are often given a hard time by some of our supporters.

Another example was Andy Millen who again helped lead a young St Mirren side to the league title under Gus and then played in the top flight until he was 42. Not sure if that is still a record.

Top notch professional. Retired from playing football aged 45.

The late, great, Adrian Sprott.

Signed from Meadowbank Thistle by Accies he scored the winning goal in a Scottish Cup  game at Ibrox and earned the nickname "The H*nf*cker"

Later returned to Meadowbank in a swap deal and was often greeted by the cry from the back of the stand "Get Sprott OFF!" except for the one time he was a sub and a rather puzzled cry from the back of the stand was heard "Get Sprott.....ON?!"

Also played for Stenny.

His name was also borrowed by Alexei Sayle in his radio series about Britain's first communist football club "Lenin of the Rovers". Alexei's character often used the phrase "Oh Sprott!"

He used to come and force his way into our kick abouts in Lochee Park in the late sixties when he was probably about 7 or 8, and run rings round us. We would have been in our early teens.

Artur Boruc, Rafael Scheidt, Andreas Thom, Enrico Annoni, Craig Whyte.

From memory. Were Celtic not struggling against Killie when Annoni was about to come on as a sub, and the cry went up from one fan, “Awe naw, no Annoni an awe!”?

Billy "Abersgonnaegetye" Abercromby.

Surely the only player to be sent off 3 times in one match?

I think Dean Windass might have managed that one as well

Not sure he meets all the criteria because he was actually a very good goalkeeper, but for me Sieb Dijkstra is one of the biggest cult heroes in my time supporting Motherwell.

The Pornstar moustache, gareish paintsplash jersey, catching cross balls out by the penalty spot and his mazy runs around defenders that used to send Wee Tommy mad, made him a huge fans favourite.

Unlike the current Motherwell team, corners and freekicks were nothing to worry about.

Seeeeeeeeiiiiiibbbbbb!!!!!!

certainly gets my vote!
