Taking stuff to the dump - today I needed to register online, book a slot, and then explain to the guy at the gate what I had with me. A year ago you'd just rock up and do it all yourself.

I got kicked off my local Facebook group for pointing out the inconsistency in people's arguments around pre-booking for the dump.

Think it was the old dear posting in the group that she couldn't work out how to use the booking site, while posting on FB.
I may (probably did) say she was making up stuff for attention given she's clearly already working the internet.

Ever since my local dump introduced pre-booking, I’ve never seen it queued out onto the main road (which was previously a regular occurrence). I’ve no issues with it whatsoever. Good but of mathematical queueing theory in action.

Probably no queues as people are dumping their stuff in lay-bys now.

I thought a wham bar was 10p, or am I showing my age?

I seen them at 35p in Home Bargains or B&M and was perturbed. This photo had me seething last night. Nearly got a CoOp worker a bajo'ing after his smart arse comment back to me too.

Went to the cash machine this morning to take out £50. Didn't spend any cash but went to give my daughter £20 for the fair and no cash there. Checked all trousers retraced steps etc, not a sign.

Merry Christmas, some c**t!

Is it possible that you took your card from the ATM and walked away but forgot to lift the cash which is delivered after the card is ejected?
I’ve done that before as I was a daft cnut.
Bloody annoying.

If you’re lucky and it wasn’t a busy ATM if no one lifted it your bank will refund it in a few days. It sucks the cash back in (matron) if not lifted within 30 seconds.

It's not all doom and gloom.  We are in the Edinburgh area and can usually get either a phone or face to face GP appointment within a few days.  I had a GP surgery based physio appointment and a scan (for 2 different reasons) within 3 weeks of asking*.  A close relative has another specialism phone appointment later this morning having been referred for one less than 2 weeks ago.

Obviously our experience isn't mirrored everywhere, but neither are the less good experiences fully representative of the work across the country.

An area where a lot of improvement work is needed is NHS dentistry.

Edit to add * within the past 3 months

My cousin, who lives in Maryland, posted this on FB the other day. If people think that other healthcare systems are miles better than ours, it's worth seeing what users of these systems actually think.

(PS, excuse the spelling etc)

I've used a supermarket self-service before, paid up, pocketed my wallet and walked out. Only realised I'd left my actual purchases when I was on the train about ten minutes later. In the days of chip and pin payment I once collected my purchases and forgot to remove my card...

Have only made either mistake once!

Used to work Customer Services for a Bank and normally if you call them and tell them exactly as above, you walked away without lifting the cash they'll most likely just refund you without checking as long as you've never claimed before.

Worth a go

It was 7 03 am at Sainsbury’s so there’s a chance. That would be ace.

I didn’t know that valuable insider info. Will give it a shot.
