Petty Things That Get On Your Nerves...

Recommended Posts

I recently started my new job as a data processor. It's a cracking job really. I sit at a desk for eight hours a day, input people's information into a big file, and piss off at the end of the day, totally stress free, unlike my last role.

That said, it perhaps doesn't have the greatest of career prospects, and I could find myself in the position in ten years time without any bother.

Not being the most ambitious of people, all I've ever really wanted was a permanent job, doing something similar to what I'm doing now, for half decent money (which I'm also on I suppose).

Two nights ago, I got an email from an old colleague, discussing a new role that has been approved for 11 months. The opportunity is much better than the job I have, as is the money, but I would almost certainly be out on my arse after a year, in the same situation where I found myself in May of this year when my last contract finished.

My head is telling me to stay where I am, but my heart is telling me to take the chance and go with the new job.

FML.

The TV being shite at this time of day. Selfish b*****ds don't realise there are as many as dozens of people that finish work at this time of night.

That and the casino being full of wallopers so the only option is to have a wee bevvy in your humble abode.

Late night and through the night TV is the cause of Scotland's alcohol problem IMO.

Take the new job. Life is boring without a bit of risk.

Do you ever think your Facebook profile will be used as a form of identification? Has your driver's licence, passport, etc all linked to it.

*walks up to club*

"Any ID, son?"
"I forgot my password"

"Not tonight, mate"

Personally I would stay were I was, it's a guaranteed wage. However tempting moving on may look, there might be another opportunity coming up in the next year or so that could be permanent and paying more money.

But I'm being paid to tell you this, so I'm not the most productive of workers anyway.

Adverts on the TV showing something better quality than the one that has the price quoted (cars are a perfect example) or adverts for games that say "Not actual game footage", in small print.

A TV advert for QP versus East Fife this Saturday wouldn't have a photoshopped Messi in a QP top (although we do have Vinnie Berry as an able subsitute!), because that would be misleading.

The "Not actual game footage" always baffles me. If you've the ability to make it look that fucking awesome for an advert then you've surely got the ability to make it in the game??

In today's economic climate, a permanent job is better than gambling on a better paid but essentially temporary job. It doesn't take too many weeks of being out of work at the end of a contract to gobble up the extra cash you made....which you've spent anyway.

Go for it (the new job).

You know when the contract finishes, so can start looking for something months before that happens. Also you never know what might happen or who you might that might open up new doors.

Sitting being bored at work is fucking dreadful.

I love when they show a top of the range model and tell you the basic model price

This^^^

Plus when you're going for the new job you can negotiate from higher wages (or no wages if you wait too long)
