Reason: fucking sweltering. Even with the fan full blast. Going to run a nice bath once there's some light outside. No continuous cough at least (of course I coughed a couple of times literally while I typed that, bah) Also ended up rattling through a couple of different ice cream lolly things out the freezer to cool me down, which was braw. Finding the nights unbearably warm at the minute, hope I'm not just imagining it and there's something else at play... Nah, it's been really hot at night the last week. Last night was fine and Friday was ok but on the other nights I had the summer duvet out.

My Portugal flights went down the tube for early October the other day. I've had to deal with this scenario a couple of times this year. Both times cancelling ourselves rather than wait for it to be cancelled would have been the wrong choice. The first instance was back in Feb where our hotel in Mexico was behind schedule on being built, so TUI sorted out a switch to an upgraded hotel at no extra cost to us, and then allowed an additional upgrade to a different part of said hotel at a very nomimal cost. Then, with covid, waiting for them to cancel allowed us to move to next year, and fly from glasgow instead of newcastle, for about £65pp extra. In total, cancelling ourselves both times and booking the new trips ourselves would have added about £900pp onto the trip booked for next year, which would have been out of our price range, especially if there is any chance of grabbing something last minute next month. When I was a kid, and still naive enough to look for shoes in shops, I've literally had sales assistants tell me that it isn't possible to have feet my size. On more than one occasion. Like God lets your feet grow to a certain width/length, then pulls the plug. f**k knows what they'd make of American shoe shops. They go up past size 20. They're useful. Despite being an arachnophobe, I hang on to them until they get big enough that I worry they might evict me. Found a monster in bed with me last night. I'd been there for about an hour. Check your sheets before lying down, people.
BFTD
Think I'd been spooning it for about an hour without realising. Back when I was as fearty as @KnightswoodBear, I think that would've seen me in an institution. I used to get that frozen-to-the-spot thing when I saw one.

Turkmenbashi
Went into Glasgow city centre today the first time this year. Fucking hell there is a lot of pigeons. throbber
Had a couple of big spiders in my house recently, one was climbing the wall in our bedroom just before we went to sleep which was easy enough to dispose of but another one was sat in the landing upstairs last night that was about the size of a dinner plate. Normally I like to dispose of them using paper and a glass method but we didn’t have a glass in the house big enough to keep it in so I ended up having to beat it to death with a shoe and then scoop the remains into an old shoe box.

scottmcleanscontacts
Talking of spiders -Has anyone else recently had these weird, slightly daddy long legs, type spiders in their hoose? They are the furthest thing from scary you could ever find - they are slow and cumbersome and have a wee pinhead body and ridiculous long skinny legs. They've actually helped with my fear of spiders a bit.

There is still a simmering resentment at my work between me and the "it's a crane fly" crew and the spider posse following a particularly poorly researched friday quiz.
scottmcleanscontacts
These spiders? or those which are mites? Aye the top one.A wee Google indicates they are called Cellar Spiders. They are pretty cool and apparently munch on the scary spiders.
