  2. I think your club should reflect on your own efforts at doing enough over a season to avoid being flushed down the pan. Not least given that the only reason you're still in contention on the final day is down to three points provided by, err, a ten man Arbroath team just three weeks ago. Or maybe you think it's unfair that every other club gets to play the only team worse than you too.

  4. Even looking ahead, whatever league we are in, Levein will no doubt spend the middle chunk of June in Germany doing media stuff, just as MacLean spent last summer in Romania doing a badge. Get him out and get in someone who wants to put all their focus on trying to reverse the fortunes of this ailing football club. With every passing game, I become more sure that relegation and building a new squad (even if it takes time) is the only way out of this mess. The two new strikers (credit to Levein for them) and Mitov are the only players I have the slightest admiration for. The rest can please go. No chat about how they might be better under a new manager. Losers who deserve the ignominy of ending 15 years in the division.

  5. St Mirren and Dundee fans desperate to add the "St Johnstone got relegated" trophy to their "made the top six" cup already in the bag. St Mirren might do a open top bus parade, but suspect Dundee will go down the DVD route.

  7. You can definitely say in today's game making any kind of 'blind' challenge like that is stupid because of how it can be interpreted. On the other hand, he's entitled to say he judged it perfectly, won the ball cleanly (and not just with a toe or his studs, he caught it perfectly) and it's not his fault the Aberdeen lad was late. There wasn't excessive force, there obviously wasn't intent, for me it's a never red card.

  9. A little offtopic, but that is reminiscent of Dunfermline's very own Party Cannon, who are a fairly standard death metal troupe with a fairly nonstandard death metal monicker. Here's how well they fit-in on their posters:

  18. Aye its something you just don't get at bigger clubs. I mind celebrating the League 1 title victory in Harleys with the whole squad. That was fucking class. The big fermer thought I was so sound that he bought me a drink*. *He accidentally knocked my full drink out my hand and insisted on buying me another. He likely did not think I was sound.

  19. If McIntyre lost 8 out of his first 10 league games next season, you doubt a board who have been very open about going for promotion wouldn't sack him? That's quite simply you taking things to an extreme. In terms of the 'club being sack averse' I don't quite get this. Our board is a very different one from that we had in the 2000s, and the 2010s, the majority of the personnel have changed, the chairman has changed etc. The 'happy clapping' stuff and 'shiny new signing' stuff I don't get either. I've not see anyone 'happy clapping' this season. We all, to a man, woman and child, agree it's been a shit season where absolutely nothing has gone right. In terms of the new signings - this is a bewildering comment to me. Are you saying that we cannot be happy about anything, any players re-signing, any new signings we bring in, because Jim McIntyre is the manager? Essentially we all have to be angry, unhappy and think everything is shite until he's gone?

  20. Add me to the "f**k John Hughes"* club. *Will never call the c**t 'Yogi' as a nickname suggests affection and I have fucking zero of that for him in regards to his (abysmal, shocking, disgusting) time as our manager.

  21. I wasn’t there. I’m in Vics in Prestwick and most of the squad are here. Really do appreciate supporting a smaller club like us when you can meet the entire squad and have conversations with them all on a night out. Trying to sell it to my Rangers supporting pal who will never meet Tavernier in the Black Bull in Mauchline for example.

  22. I don’t think Levein gets the credit he deserves sometimes… Any manager that can put a midfield out that has me wishing Cammy MacPherson and Ali Crawford were playing is remarkable. That lack of heart today is a real worry. A huge match for us, we get beat with barely a whimper yet not a single yellow card says everything about the lack of fight. Agree Benj and May start next game. They at least put a bit of effort in.

  23. Nah. We budget to finish 10th with no cup runs. That doesn't mean we have the 10th/11th smallest budget, just that we "guarantee" ourselves that level of prize money when planning each season.

  25. Silver Strikers 5-1 MAFCO in the Super League of Malawi! A wee bit of background for anyone not 100% familiar with Malawian football.... Big Bullets (from Blantyre) are the country's top team, winning the league for the past few seasons and even playing against their own reserve team in the cup final recently. They dominate a league filled with fantastically African sounding teams like Mighty Wanderers and Waka Waka Tigers. Here, Silver Strikers from Lilongwe took on MAFCO from Salima: the Bankers vs the Soldiers by nickname (Silver Strikers were formed by the employees of a bank and are now probably the second biggest club in Malawi, MAFCO stands for Malawian Armed Forces College. Staunchness aplenty most likely, if this was in Scotland. It was pretty mental. - Classic African football crowd. Singing melodically, dancing, and partying throughout. Many very drunk or high. About 3,000-4,000 there in total. - A truly terrible standard of football! I'd fancy Dalbeattie Star to stroll past either of these teams, and these are two of the best in Malawi. - MAFCO went 0-1 up, and I didn't even realise. I don't think they had any fans in the ground to cheer it, and I was too busy haggling over Silver Strikers tat that I was trying to buy. - Silver Strikers got the dodgiest penalty that I have ever seen outside Ibrox. - MAFCO's players responded by crowding the ref: pushing him, screaming in his face, trying to hit him. It really was the point that might have had a game abandoned in Scotland, and at least a couple of red cards shown. I've never seen intimidation like it. One of them got booked and that was the end of it. - Silver Strikers had two close call offsides against them in quick succession as they were in attack. Several of their fans responded by trying to stone the linesman! Other Silver Strikers fans got in their way to stop them. Of course these things are frustrating, but they were 4-1 up and coasting at this point! - Probably other stuff that I've forgotten about too. And the result puts Silver Strikers top of the league. I was a bit closer to the action in the stands than ideal, but have to say I fair enjoyed it. Before today the most recent game I was at was Queens vs Edinburgh City, and it was a bit more of a spectacle than that anyway. IMG_4732.mov

  27. They were lining up along the advertising boards from about the 85th minute ready to go. I'm no fan of pitch invasions in general, but can accept them as a euphoric reaction to a last minute winner in a massive game or something similar, but last night was just pre-planned cuntery. And as I said last night, the fact they did it after arguably our worst performance of the season was just utterly embarrassing.

  30. I can see why folk want the conversation to end cause it’s going round in circles and he’s been backed by the club. Thats a fair point of view to have but you can’t say that it’s pointless people chatting about the club letting McIntyre go. I know things were more positive after this meeting but I remember thinking Lumsden spoke ok at his pre season chat with fans and we all know what happened there so forgive me for it not making me feel any better. Fair play to Gold and Stewart leading some of the players to the fans at the end and to those players who acknowledged the home support. As mentioned above, I was also looking for our manager to show a bit of leadership and to acknowledge the fans the end and he was nowhere to be seen which to be honest I think is absolutely criminal. Show a bit of something that shows us you want to be here as well. I tell you it’s done nothing to help the case for him to stay

  33. 10 years ago they were dishing out consistent pastings to us with a pretty solid squad for League 1 level. Andy Stirling, Stevie Bell, Frank McKeown, Jamie Longworth etc. All kinda went to shit when it was revealed they were massively overpaying for players and their squad got gutted under Stevie Farrell. We had loads of good battles with them in League 1 so I wouldn’t want to see them relegated as I think they’d disappear and not be seen again.

  34. 26% of our points this season have been gained against Motherwell. If we’d lost all games against them, we’d be in the relegation playoff spot and they’d be in the European places. Motherwell FC, thank you.

  39. Last season there was one objective to get out of L1, the slow turgid football was acceptable to get that done. Really efficient. The last few weeks have shown to me that we need a change from the pedestrian tippy tippy pish that we seen to prefer. I might be a dinosaur but it's really not any fun to watch guys playing short passes back and forth to each other until one of them inevitably miscontrols it and gives away a chance or hoofs it out the park. Some entertainment would be welcome.

  40. They were never in the game today and we should have taken 5/6 off them. Lump it on, cheat, time waste and got two very very soft penalties from a hopeless ref. I hope you beat them.

  41. Today's random game was going to be a cracker. I'd booked a last 'ish' minute trip last week to Barcelona for my days off to see Barca V Valencia which was a Saturday 2pm kick off. So Friday Morning out Saturday night flights back booked last Thursday morning for £53, hotel £40 and £84 for my ticket. Did a bit of research to see what else I'd fill my time with. Only for La Liga to do what La Liga does and change the kick off time and DATE to this coming Monday... , 3 hours after I booked it! What's that all about....!?!?! Barcelona though were quick to offer apologies and fire out a refund. So checked to see if there were any other games on. But sadly not. Europa, Sant Andreu and L'Hospitalit (3 of the other 4 teams in Barcelona are all playing either away or on Sunday!) At least they were kind enough to open the stadium so we could have a peak inside!

  44. I guess the thing I'd put to everyone who wants McIntyre to leave now/ should have left in the previous months, I see the two paths as follows: 1 - Continue with him with the plans that have been building since January, in terms of players signing from outwith the club and from the current squad 2 - Rip it up, bring in a new manager and leave him 5 months behind everyone else in teams of preparation So, lets say we start next season poorly and are having issues come October. People want the manager out. I'd much, much rather be in the position of having a squad that's been put in place over a period of time/ the manager has been given the amount of time needed and has failed than be in a position where we want a manager who's been in the door 3 months to be sacked when he's not been given a fair crack at it. Manager leaves in October - one we've given a year and has been given more than enough time and has failed or one who has been given 3 months and not given a fair crack at it? Personally I think it's much better this way, and I think people massively underestimate the planning that goes into a new season between January and June.

  45. I already know that - the second half of the 2003-03 season. We were basically fielding a youth team and getting battered every week.... it was very painful See the thing is, you've taken 4 games out of season that we won. If you took Brechin's four best results out of their season they'd have finished with literally 0 points. I don't know why people think Jim McIntyre can make players who aren't Championship level quality better though? I also don't remember us being humiliated 'week in week out' this season at all. Half of them have been games we've lost by the odd goal because we dont have the level of quality in the team that other teams in this league do. Last week, todays game, and next week literally mean nothing. That's why we tried a different formation today, why we have Ricky a start as captain in his last home game and why we haven't been playing our best striker for the last few weeks. There's no point in playing people who are definitely leaving, and because we've been pish over the last few months it's well worth trying things in terms of shape etc. and seeing how people cope with an eye to if they can do a job there next year. I genuinely don't get why people would be complaining about things in these games. Of course, by all means entirely understandable in the months prior when we were pish and lost all of the games against the teams 'near' us, but how can today affect anyones opinion considering the above? Ultimately people who wanted McIntyre out last week, want him out still, and will want him out next week. That's totally fine and obviously an extremely justifiable opinion, but that has to be based on the games prior to the irrelevant ones in which we're trying things/ giving players game time and playing a team in which it's their biggest game of the season? I mean, last week he was getting blamed for using the term 'punter', and this week he's being blamed for Aaron Steele running like Robbie Raeside in a pool of treacle. That's nothing to do with tactics, training or anything else, that's to do with Aaron Steele being slow for starters, and coming back from a 4/5 month injury on top of that. There's plenty of issues, plenty of poor decisions and performances by players and managers a like, but we can't just sit about blaming Jim McIntyre for things that are quite clearly not his fault/ things that aren't really relevant.

  46. So torn about next week. Would love Queens Park to go down because of what they are and it would make Ruari Paton miserable. BUT, can't stand big Dumc and it would be amazing to see the headsgone if they end up in 9th. Plus I want us to field not a soul who will start in the playoffs, so there's also that
