It doesn't help that players who typically show promise are sold at the first available opportunity, in fairness.

Think Easton would be off regardless, he's done a great job and it's a much better opportunity for him.

Tbh, Easton can't really do much more. He's won a league twice which is now due to be scrapped. Not sure how it'll go for next season, but you'd have to imagine any sort of youth development will go to Cuthbert or Robertson. Easton has done a top job, and we've seen some excellent prospects starting to come through.

Definitely.

We’ve never (in my time as a Rovers fan anyway) found the right balance between holding onto young players, long enough for our team to benefit from them, and selling them onto other clubs. This allows other clubs to get players at a bargain basement price, as they are effectively unproven after only making a handful of appearances for us (Callachan aside). Maybe things can still go right for us with Vaughan and Matthews?

I think losing Easton is short sighted I appreciate he might have chosen to go been approached but he' done some really good work behind the scenes and more than done what's been asked of him.

Annual request for some hidden gem foreign nutcase/genius please.

Not even bothered if he's dabbled in the porn industry.

Not next season. That's reserved for the mugs around you moaning about us getting rid of Osei, and  claiming that he never got enough game time...

Is Martin Prest still an agent? Barry should get on the phone. With exotic clients like Juan Gurrero we can’t go wrong. On a very slightly more serious not Toni Calderon is out of a job at the moment, wonder if he’d fancy being our Spanish fixer and help bring us over the next Paquitp.

Only complaint is Buchanan but then that was a mistake made last summer.

Might’ve considered letting Thomson and one of Davidson/Bene go (nothing personal, just to use the budget elsewhere given we’d also have Murray and McKay) but then I guess it’s a big enough rebuild coming without adding a few more to the equation.

Nine players left, five of whom are defenders. Good.

Agree with this. If the budget's being reduced a fair bit then it doesn't make much sense to me to keep Thomson, Bene, Davo and Murray, especially with McKay doing so well when called upon this season.

I would be keeping Davo and Murray to play a back four of Murray-McKay-Davo-Watson/new RB. I can understand why Smith's keen to keep the best performing part of the team intact but we're crying out for more creativity and goals so I'd be using a bit extra to solve that issue.

Would be good to have a marauding full-back like Craig Wilson or Thomson of a few seasons ago as it offers an extra dimension and attacking outlet which we lack.

Crucial recruitment spell ahead. Fingers crossed Smith gets it right.

Do Bayern and Arsenal not have some kind of hybrid plastic/grass pitches?

Closer to home, Hearts are installing a hybrid pitch during the close season.

Costing in the region of £1million apparently.

Any key points?

Starks is falling to bits and is needing a a new generator, lights, burnt down and built again. Have plans for the railway stand but will most likely be a 5-10 year plan. Has told Barry the football has been brutal to watch. He's aiming for more transparency in future transfers with none of the undisclosed nonsense. That's all I can really remember from it.

He also stated that the club are actually worse off than it was before Reclaim the Rovers. But he’s not worried...

Every time he paused I genuinely thought he was going to fall asleep. I’m surprised I didn’t fall asleep either to be honest...

Take the opportunity when you can, very soon for you, sleep will be a thing of the past.

It’s a good interview. Don’t agree with everything Sim says but I certainly appreciated the honesty and transparency which is something we’ve lacked for a long time.

It may be controversial and It’ll not happen anytime soon for a number of reasons but if we ever had the opportunity to leave Starks and move to a 7000/7500 capacity purpose built stadium I would jump at the chance.

As much as I love Stark’s the place seems to be falling apart and the lack of room for expansion and development of facilities is really hampering us.

ETA: Also, credit to the Raith TV guys once again, can’t be easy but I think all the important questions we asked.

Thomson is apparently considering turning part-time this summer. If he does it looks like he might end up at Arbroath, according to today's Courier.

Thomson and Spence to Arbroath has been doing the rounds for a few months now.

So far so good from Sim. There's a lot of "we're still learning" and smiles all round. I see his plans as long term solutions which is obviously a good thing. I hope it's not a case of starting one project and then forgetting about it when the size of the task is realised and then starting something else.

The pitch is happening and with a bit of luck, it won't be too long until we have the finished article rather than a pitch with no lights and no public facility. I think it will be a step in the right direction and the fact that the funding for this is "ring fenced" from Starks Park Properties then it is reassuring that the club itself won't be directly affected financially.

He's obviously good with the numbers and has a business head on. On a footballing side, I think we need someone at the club with a bit of football savvy about them. Eric Drysdale for all of his faults at least knew how the game worked and how the organisations within the game worked.
