Michael W
2 hours ago, Broken Algorithms said: Or we could build a healthy dynamic between the the new board members and the fans and Sim can keep himself to himself and, ideally, sell the stadium on to the new investors so we're not looking at this Pepe Silvia pinboard model of a club we currently operate. Sim's kept us afloat (among others) for pretty much nearly 20 years. But he also pulled the trigger with McGlynn on the biggest act of self sabotage we're likely to see before doubling down on it. The AGM seems to show that he's happy to blame everyone else without taking any responsibility himself for any of our major issues. Nothing is binary in life: he'll never be perfect or a total c**t. I doubt he'll want the stress of being involved in a club during his retirement. But if he does, there's relatively little in the way of the decisions he's made to suggest we should be taking his views on board. Agree with this. It is true to say that there would likely be no Raith Rovers if it wasn't for John Sim, but it's equally true to say that his running of the club has been dreadful. The club has consistently posted losses (say the line FFP) and, as the man who has had total control of the club, this is on him. He seems to specialise in blaming all and sundry - with some justification, in fairness - but he's the man in charge and the buck has to stop there. He has had total control, but he has not implemented it and his leadership has been notably absent. I don't believe that this has been malicious, but more a consequence of his life being on the other side of the world and him having a job that likely did not afford him much time to do the sort of things he really should've been doing for the club. Benign neglect and the club has suffered for it. I had a laugh at one of the recent FFP articles where Sim was saying that imposing an accounting structure on the club was an error and the new guys will have a different one. The club is owned by an Auditor (I.e. a qualified accountant) and the previous boards have consisted of numerous accountants also. Who on earth hires accountants that are incapable of financially managing an organisation? Maybe we wanted an accounting structure in place, but what we actually put in place gave results that are an embarrassment to their professional backgrounds. Pleased though I am that we are going to conclude this matter shortly, I do have some concerns. They are: 1) Sim being removed from control of the football club, but still being around. Can he cope with this? I have no insider knowledge, but I gather that it's not exactly a secret he is a difficult man to work with and very much a 'my way or the highway' type guy. He also will still have the stadium, which is problematic to say the least. He will continue to have a lot of leverage. 2) Loss of money. There are a lot of gaps needing plugged and whilst I have criticised Sim extensively, he has plugged the gaps. They are gaps bad management of the club has opener up and also largely his fault, but he still plugged them. Will the newcomers do the same if that happens? I know they are keen on operating the off the pitch operation far better than we have now to bring in more money, although I don't think miracles can be expected overnight. Overall, glad that we can move Sim on somewhat. It's clear he's had enough and keeping him where he does not want to be is not going to lead to a good outcome. I think especially for a young player if a manager believes in you then that is massive and he should sign on again, he has been trusted by Murray but a loan first half of the season would do him the world of good.

He’s been on an expiring Modern Apprentice contract. Previous MA’s were generally signed to FT contracts several months before their MA deals were expiring. I’ve been saying he should be offered a full time contract since before Christmas. I said he needed out on loan to develop. We waited and gave him extremely limited game time, which it turns out showcased him. He’s finally offered a full time contract… …and he says he wanted to go out on loan, he appreciates the gaffer trusted him, but he’s weighing his options. I’m hardly surprised, and because of how we did this I can’t be disappointed in his choice. I fear very much he’ll be at one of our opponents next year, unless our new DoF can sell him on staying…good luck either way, Adam. He could also be using the weighing up his options to get a better deal or the manager to agree to a loan. He isn’t ready to be a starting cb in the championship at the moment imo but he looks a promising player

He’s not going to start for the Pars or such, but he’s very close to being a starter for a team like Arbroath.
Broken Algorithms
He stays local (don't think it's Kennoway) and is a known quantity. I think he'll re-sign for next season.

Ro Sham Bo
I'm not really sure what more we could have done with Masson this season. When you look at the issues we've had filling the bench it would've been madness to send him on loan. I don't doubt it's been frustrating for him but he's been a victim of circumstance more than anything else.

You have assumed the club has waited.

Your passion for giving the young boys a crack is admirable mate but ffs how can you base that comment having seen the lad a handful of times? A few of them him not actually playing in his natural position.

CountryBumpkin
I'd agree. Can't say he's close to starting at Championship level this year yet. What I will say though is none of the young lads have let themselves or the club down in any game they've played in. Masson has been brilliant when called into the side, his reaction and performances after the Dundee cup game have been exceptional as that could have knocked his confidence completely. I'd like to see Masson and Young sign on again, get regular games next season, likely coming from the bench (though defensive subs can be pretty difficult) and i'd like to see more of Arnott as well as Mitchell too, but i've not seen anything of them this year to suggest they're nearly ready.
