Reggie Perrin
That was more a managerial letdown to be fair. Can play if he doesn't get put on the pitch. Asked this before but does anyone know what the problem between Hughes and Wallner was?

Given Hughes rampant ego, it might simply be that Wallner was a better player than him. Or was unwilling to take instructions from an utter fanny. Either would be believable. Edit: Might also be language or cultural issues as he only really seems to ha e settled and scored goals in Austria and German countries. Russ
We also signed Jason Lee as a striking option during the awfulview season anyone thats watch sky sports or MOTD has seen some of his misses in fact he was reknowed for missing the goal just as a reminder of how bad some of them were and at least he didnt consign it just to England. Honestly don’t think Jason Lee was that bad for us.He was a 6’3 target man but we were giving him the ball at his feet around 40 yards from goal. He was never going to be successful in that kind of system. I’m sure he scored 8 or 9 goals which wasn’t too bad.

Hughes's squad of 100 centre mids and one forward certainly didnt help.
bairnabeau
Biggest letdown for me was Dani Marceta who we got on loan (?) from Partizan Belgrade before the Vaduz game. The best player ever seen in training, apparently. Had a look for old stories on him;“Danijel is an international player at under-21 level with Slovenia and will progress to their senior team, there is no doubt about that” 3rd tier of Slovenian football if anyone was interested...
DeeBairn
Dani fucking Marceta. Can I add Jack Compton to the list, before I forget him again. Do we as a support basically get chubbies for anyone sold as a wide player?
kiddy
Biggest letdown for me was Wallner. He came to the club with a massive pedigree but was never played. As previously mentioned, Vaulks the surprise package. But Hughes wouldn't play him. Still remember the steam coming out of Yogi's ears, when fan power made him stick the guy on when we were 4-1 down with 5 to go.

Yet more evidence that Yogi could have been a great coach rather than a lucky one if he had been capable of pulling his head out his own arse. Most of the clubs he's managed have either gone down with him, or shortly after he leaves. Like a poor man's Paul Lambert.
kiddy
Asked this before but does anyone know what the problem between Hughes and Wallner was? Rumours at the time were he was a board signing, via a beneficiary with contacts.Paid for by said benefactor, an Austrian international, Hughes was said to be incandescent.CMIIW, but sure he was later sold, in Austria, for £1m+.

Or gifted a cup final win, by a team of plonkers that couldn't take their man advantage into extra time.[emoji85] [emoji24]

Stokes comes close, but for me without a doubt, Farid I recall having posters on here not at the pre season Dunfermline game which had Loy and Roberts up front as trialists suggesting Roberts would be a better signing and Loy would be meh I recall being at Stokes first game at Ibrox and thought he was too small and didn't look like the answer.....Hmmmmm, I wasn't alone in that theory that day

There were a lot of young boys playing and even though he scored a penalty really didn’t think he was up to much. With the Stokes season I’m sure we started the season with only Pedro and Alan Gow as our strikers which was fucking madness. Sure he brought in Stokes, John fucking Stewart and Tam McManus all on deadline day.

Handed a good player, but because he hadn't signed him, he wouldn't play him. And he wonders why he can't get a fucking job anymore. To be fair, I wouldn't even let him decorate my house. He'd ignore what you told him, and paper it in Hibs wallpaper or some bollocks.

PG.Colossus
Davie Elliot was an awful letdown. Every time he played against us he ripped Gary Smith a new one several times over. Once he signed for us he lost all ability to play football. Sad times.
Ned Nederlander
Biggest let down was Stevie Logan, tore us a new arsehole every time he played against us then did virtually hee-haw for us. Was so excited when we signed him, as well. Latapy was the biggest surprise, thought he was an old-pals signing & well past his best. The threads had 50k replies btw (apologies if already mentioned but I skip big chunks of pages these days due to the plethora of utter shite)
Andreas Kelevra
Steve Logan was amazing against us, seem to remember him only doing what we thought he could do just the once, before returning to being awful. Didn’t he have his own Plumbing business and didn’t really care too much if football worked out or not.

Also in that game, Vaulks scored a peach of a headed OG from a long way out.
