gav-ffc
What is our gameplan to score a goal, seriously? Balls over fullbacks.
gav-ffc
Sibbald will just be marked out of games this season, as soon as he was near the ball the number 16 was on top of him and then had the full back close by also. Smith should have came on when Taiwo had to go off, would have killed the game off IMO.
Juan Sheet
Can't see why people are losing their minds thinking we should be paying big wages for players. It's pretty simple, last season has become this season, everyone expected rangers to walk the league and if they weren't at Christmas they'd buy it like what they're doing with Scott Allan. It was also expected hibs or hearts would win the playoff. That's why we put most signings on 2 year deals to build a team to challenge this season. With Rangers still in the championship I can imagine the plan will be like last season and aim for the playoffs without spending too much, as realistically we won't be able to challenge for the title this season. We'll sign another couple of players and finish around 4th. It pains me to say that but I'd rather see us live within our means this season then maybe gamble with our budget next year when the title would be more realistic. Christ knows I don't want to see us going back to owing shareholders and getting handouts from Sandy Alexander to pay bills. -
Shadwell Dog
We should still have a bigger budget than anyone outside of Sevco, hibs and perhaps St Mirren though. Is it too much to ask that our long suffering fans cant watch a team that plays entertaining football every week gets in the playoffs comfortably and gives those three a decent game once in a while. We should be able to do that with some decent signings within our own budget surely.
The Moonster
.....and that's exactly what we did last season away to Cowdenbeath. ...and exactly what you did the year before that, away to us. Whole lot of knicker wetting going on here.

Now the same fans want him sacked.
MrDust
Houston out campaign on Onef. Our fans are f****** unbelievable Two wins and an away draw....It's not been encouraging so far, still a lot can change and click into place. A hell of a lot of assumptions tho, because we haven't signed players doesn't = he is lazy.

Christ knows I don't want to see us going back to owing shareholders and getting handouts from Sandy Alexander to pay bills. Basicaly this. I can understand the clubs pragmatism here, they assumed last season that there would be no chance of winning the league or going up through the play offs so didnt budget for it. this season they are assuming that rangers will walk the league and hibs will go up through the play offs. and we'l have the devision all to ourselves next season to strole to promotion. If only it were that simple. Still its a big ask to expect fans to turn up and pay good money to watch a team that isnt realy trying to win or get promotion, what if hibs go and hibs up the play offs again and dundee or kilmarnock or thistle get relegated? were back to being outsiders for the tittle and promotion again for another couple seasons, while i understand that we shouldnt be spending big money to compete with rangers for the tittle, we should be looking to finish in a play off place AND WIN PROMOTION through the play offs. that is what our squad should be budgeted for.
Shadwell Dog
Correct mate. A bit of clarity wouldn't go a miss at the moment. The chairman says we're going for promotion and yet we've done very little to improve a team that ended up 7 points off the playoffs last season. Now either the chairman is bluffing and Houston has very little money to spend or Houston is doing an Arsene Wenger and struggling to spend the extra budget he still has available. Either way it's the fans that are being taken for a ride here. Season ticket sales went well and you can add that to player sales and the extra income from the Scottish Cup run so you'd think we had every right to expect a wee bit better quality in signings than those that have so far only basically covered the players we lost last season and not much else. You get the feeling though that any more info won't be forthcoming so that the bod and manager can blame each other when we struggle badly again this season.

DutchBorderer
I genuinely hope you guys will get promoted this season - been following the club's results ever since Jeroen Lambers played for you in 06/07- but next year is probably the best shot to take (provided a team like the Accies come down, rather than some of the bigger teams).
Shadwell Dog
"Long suffering fans"? How so? Some of the football we've been watching over the past few seasons since we came down from the top flight and the last two seasons in the top flight has been brutal to say the least. We've seen all our young talent sold off to the quickest bidder due to the bod's financial feck ups and we've only really came close to promotion one season out of the last what 5 or 6. Even though that's the case we're still able to sell between 2500 and 3000 season tickets which isn't bad going. When you see the likes of Hamilton, ICT ,Ross County and St Johnstone all in the top flight with piss poor home supports then you expect a little bit more back to be honest. Doesn't actually make the individual supporters more long suffering, magnificent or whatever than those at smaller clubs though, does it? That way lies OF logic. As it is, you've got to see some decent cup runs during the period you refer to, alongside respectable league finishes.

Shadwell Dog
We all have different expectations of our clubs at the end of the day. Some of us just want a bit more back when we keep investing year on year. We've probably taken in more cash than most teams in this league over the past few seasons apart from perhaps Hamilton and yet its all been pished down the drain on debt or bad signings.
