The idea that Big Business will suffer under a Trump presidency is fanciful at best. I'm surprised that the more sceptical conservatives US-side seem to have been taken in by this.

Clinton's chances of winning are now increasing by the hour - unsurprisingly. 538 now has her at a 71.9% chance of winning.

The 1% has prospered under Obama as almost all new wealth creation has gone straight to their class. The same will continue under Clinton with handouts thrown to the people at the very bottom to keep their votes coming (a small price to pay compared to the wealth they are accumulating). The 1% of America will be hurt by immigration restriction and a renegotiation of so-called "free trade" deals. The bottom 80% will gain economically under the economic plan Trump proposes.

The great Pennsylvanian Ben Franklin famously asked in colonial times: "Why should the Palatine Boors be suffered to swarm into our settlements, and by herding together establish their languages and manners to the exclusion of ours? Why should Pennsylvania, founded by the English, become a colony of Aliens, who will shortly be so numerous as to Germanize us instead of our Anglifying them?"

Thankfully the French and Indian War intruded on the German mass immigration, it was stopped for about 80 years until the middle 19th century when the Germans came again, and they were Anglicized rather than the Americans being Germanized. Now we face the same question with the Hispanics.

I assume then that there was no one in any of these places before the white settlers came?

If there were people there, what happened to their languages and cultures?

Disappeared it seems. We must learn from history and not repeat mistakes made by other cultures if we want ours to survive for our children, grandchildren, and on down the line.

Conquered by superior weapons / Killed off by disease. Is that the answer you're looking for? They are gone though and never really had a fair chance at fighting back. Unlike the Indians, we do have the ability to save our culture and nation. We just need the will.

First results show Clinton at 50%, Trump at 25%.

Quote

In the first results of the U.S. presidential election, residents of Dixville Notch, N.H., vote for Hillary Clinton, AP reports.

Of eight votes counted, Clinton received four votes, Donald Trump two, Libertarian Gary Johnson one and 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney received one write-in vote
Polls opened in town just after midnight and closed after everyone had voted: AP
NOTE: Residents of Dixville Notch, in far northern reaches of N.H., have long-standing tradition of casting their votes just after midnight in state’s presidential primary and general election

Pish.  You'd need the IQ of a hamster to believe that.

Held constant from the end of WW2 until the mid-60s for all levels of education. Then something happened. What could it have been?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_and_Nationality_Act_of_1965

Suddenly a bunch of unskilled labor goes from decent paying to less than minimum wage, the remaining work that still hires Americans also faces declining wages because of increased competition for those jobs, and unskilled native laborers slowly drop out of the labor force as the number of immigrants expands and expands and expands.

The economists lied. They said that mass unskilled immigration would push Americans out of those jobs and up the ladder. That was true to a certain extent, but it's also true that the new economy left behind the most vulnerable of our society to a life of welfare dependency and all that goes with that. Drug addiction, broken families, declining life expectancy. Turns out that Americans with an 85 IQ and mediocre work ethic can't compete with folks willing to brave a thousand mile cartel trafficking journey just to reach a foreign country. And they certainly aren't going to do hard work for $5/hr like Mexicans.

The U.S. Presidential campaign and the E.U. Referendum campaign have created a climate where people appear quite comfortable allowing their racist and xenophobic views to come to the fore; no need to hide or be embarrassed by them any longer it seems.

Saw a wee snippet online the other day where it was being claimed that amongst many non-white U.S. residents the "Make America Great Again" slogan is being interpreted as "Make America White Again".  Sad, sad times.

Edit for speeling!
