In fairness, as soon as there's any positive test there will be discussions had as to potential wider impact to squad/coaching staff and whether or not the game can go ahead.

'Casts doubt' is probably a fair comment. Although the comparison to the Dons & Celtic is a bit irrelevant, I agree.

I can’t see what the difference between this scenario and the one with Gogic, when the Hibs v Aberdeen match went ahead without any issues.

Yeah, that's the comparison to make – the other situation is totally different

Thel reporting on the St Mirren player who tested positive for COVID-19 clearly suggests Saturday's game is in doubt because of earlier penalties handed out to Aberdeen and Celtic. Yet the three-game postponements for those clubs were down to  quarantine breaches, not because a single player tested positive. Is that meant to be implied from the article?

Aye, I agree. But that game was also 'in doubt' whilst Hibs & the SFA established what the situation was.

Good luck with that one lads.

This very much seems to be the work of someone who has seen lots of podcasts making money through Patreon, but has missed out the quite important part where the podcasts started out for free and built the trust of an audience.

Or the fact that there’s about three hundred thousand (Scottish) football podcasts, and most of them are absolute garbage.  And that the ones that are any good are generally free anyway.

Could you recommend any football podcasts that are decent?

Wasn't sure where to put this. There's not a "Terrible Opinions From Ex-pro Morons Thread".

Quote

He said: “I was in England on the outside looking in and I thought it was an absolute disaster for the game and for Scottish football.

“It was a disaster PR-wise, not only for Rangers, but for the image of our game as a whole.

“If Rangers were to get punished, fine, no problem.

“But to send them down to the bottom leagues caused real harm to the Scottish game.

“There was also the issue of denying the national team players from one of the two biggest clubs in the country because Scotland couldn’t pick players who were playing every week in the Third Division, as it was at the time.

“Over the years, the Scotland manager could always rely on three, four, five Rangers players but in the Third Division Rangers had players who would never in a million years be good enough for the national team.

“Whoever made that decision, got it bang wrong. If Rangers needed to be fined, fine them. But taking them out of the league was a big mistake in my opinion.”

Good grief.

I don't associate with any fans of the old or new club but surely even they recognise Rangers were liquidated/died and a new club was formed which had to apply for entry into the Scottish leagues.

Good grief.

It's obviously all rubbish but this bit in particular is very odd:

“There was also the issue of denying the national team players from one of the two biggest clubs in the country because Scotland couldn’t pick players who were playing every week in the Third Division, as it was at the time.

“Over the years, the Scotland manager could always rely on three, four, five Rangers players but in the Third Division Rangers had players who would never in a million years be good enough for the national team."

As if, you know, Ian Black, Kevin Kyle etc would've been Scotland regulars had it not been for the fact they were in the 3rd division. Or that International quality players just dropped off the face of the earth at the point there was no more Rangers in the league.

Time is moving on apace, and while I'm sure everyone who was on here at the time in that long, glorious spring and summer 2012 will never forget it, a new generation has come along. 8 years ago, crivvens.

This fact, together with the natural fading of memories, and more importantly, the incessant Ministry of Truth activities by newspapers, pundits and everyone associated with the newco, has had the unfortunate result of obscuring the simple facts of the time: Rangers went bust and a new club was admitted to Division Three to fill the gap. They cheated on an industrial scale for years before that and were punished (by their own request, financially) separately.

Scotland certainly missed out on the certain mainstays of the national team *checks notes* Ian Black, Kyle Button, old Lee McCulloch and Nicky Clark during the journey. Such a nonsense point.

Supergrass aside genuinely struggling to think which Rangers players he's talking about

It's actually a frightening narrow mindedness amongst OF people that leads to this thought process.

Rangers weren't supplying national team players post 2012 (disaster!!!) or....Steven Naismith went to Everton, Whittaker went to Norwich etc etc. Scotland still had the exact same supply of players, just from a different club.

It's almost as if he believes players should play for Scotland simply because they play for Rangers or Celtic...

Being forced to play in the Third Division stunted Kevin Kyle's development and prevented him firing Scotland to glory imo.

Utterly bizarre mental gymnastics / double think. Basically he is saying "the Scotland starting 11 must have 4 Celtic and 4 Rangers players in it, so if Rangers are in the Third Division it weakens the Scotland team".
