Puts his tenure in to some perspective. He came in at a time when we desperately needed someone to keep us up after the Hopkin and Duffy fiasco and he did improve things.

To be fair to Bullen he was prepared to give up a good thing in Sheffield to take us on and for that he has my thanks.

After the high water mark of the home demolition of Queen's Park and a poor January window though, he's found things tough. Without Chalmers and with Mullin losing a bit of form teams found it easier to close down Dipo and we limped in to the playoffs.

This season has been a bit of a car crash, though. The recruitment has been poor, there's been no discernable shape and he's been pretty random with the substitutions. We've been sliding back to where we were under the previous 3 managers so clearly time for a change.

McCall took over the remnants of Roberts team and we didn’t really get a new manager bounce despite there being clear improvements. He also had us relegated with Gary Harkins up front, these are often forgotten when you look at his success but a 47% win rate is pretty good considering.

Bullen was heading for Hopkin and Duffy territory with more draws and defeats than wins. Then take in to account the amount of scrappy draws we salvaged.

Club Update | 16/01/24

The club confirms that Davie White will take charge for Saturday's match with the process for appointing a new Head Coach remains ongoing.

The deadline for Dundee United to recall Logan Chalmers has now expired and Logan will remain an Ayr United player until at least the end of the season.

Jack Young has returned to Wycombe Wanderers following the expiry of the his loan. We would like to thank Jack for all his efforts this season and wish him every success in the future.

White in charge interim, Chalmers staying and Young away.  No mention of Senga, would rather Young stayed, but them the breaks.

Gutted to lose Young. We really need to sign a defensive midfielder. If Halliday was to come in I’d be happy with that but can’t see it happening if Motherwell are interested.

That's bad losing young. Only midfielder that's looked decent.

Dempsey been woefully off the pace since his injury and nothing to suggest senga or syla can step up and set the Heather alight

Senga’s loan doesn’t expire till the 21st so won’t be told till probably post Kelty game

Senga going back as well gives a bit of wiggle room for the new manger to put his own stamp on the midfield.

Here’s hoping we win on Saturday and get a money spinning tie to help get a couple of signings in.

The club can announce that Davie Whyte will be in the dugout for Saturdays Scottish cup clash with Kelty. Davie, who has been interim manager on three occasions has agreed to step up again while the recruitment process is ongoing. Davies last stint saw him lead the team to a…..etc
