Shambles churches are allowed to have 50 folk in for an hour or whatever at a time before non essential retail is allowed to open. Surely you can also increase outdoor mixing numbers higher than 4.

Communal places of worship up to 50, providing for social distancing.  Interesting to see the science behind that.  Surely a group of 50 indoors makes no difference if it is a church, mosque, cinema or bingo hall?

Try going down the Mecca and belting out a couple of hymns during the National and let us know how you get on..

Seriously, I'd have the cinema and bingo as the safer two simply down to orientation and lack of singing/praying out loud. All else, like ventilation, being equal.

The idea that 50 people meeting indoors to celebrate a fictional character from a story book is essential or a priority is utterly hilarious.

It's 2021.

And they wonder why some people are just ignoring the rules now.

If 50 people can go to a church then surely 50 people can sit in a cinema or sit in a pub with social .distancing.

Trying to avoid a full heads-gone at the places of worship one.  I get the religion is important to a lot of people, I get that churches, mosques, synagogues etc. all do good work in their local community and I also understand that there are religious festivals coming up.

But at the same time, is it not wrong for the government to start cherry-picking what indoor socialising is acceptable, while preaching to us about the science?  It either is or isn't "safe" for 50 people to meet indoors with social distancing/masks, so why allow it for certain reasons but not others if this is a purely scientific decision? All of the arguments made for places of worship could be be applied to any number of clubs or organisations who will continue to be closed for some time.

Just to balance the frustration at that policy, I am pleased for there at least to be acknowledgement that further easing can happen should the data continue to go the way it is currently going and that vaccines appear to be reducing not only hesitations and deaths, but transmission too.  Will be interesting to see what the route-map looks like next Tuesday.

All places of worship, yep.  I don't think the SG would be stupid enough to only allow it for one religion...

Amen to that, brother.

Part of me agrees, but...

1. It is only “up to” 50 with 2m distancing,

2. Given the age demographic of most Church goers in Scotland, if there is no uptick in cases / deaths on the back of this, it should be open season on everything else after,

3. Given the overall view on “god botherers” on here, why wouldn’t they be your perfect guinea pigs?

Meeting up in a garden she mentioned toilets but I missed it.  Are you allowed into your pals house for a slash?

Stand in the garden and aim.  Much more fun.

But yes, I think that was mentioned.  Pretty much as it was last June - if you need to go indoors to get to an outdoors area or to use the loo then that's fine but to practice hygiene .

Back to the first lifting last time where you can go through the house if it's necessary to get to the back garden, and you can go in for a pish
