BFTD
No time to watch that, but presumably it's about stubborn boomers grasping at straws to avoid changing anything about their habits, and leaving it up to their suffering kids to deal with the disastrous consequences.

Freedom Farter
There's a lot of literature out there on this one. As well as some attempts at reconstructing the act to show just how easily it could've been pulled off.

Zetterlund
13 hours ago, Bigmouth Strikes Again said: The truth about the climate change bullshite...... I've seen this doing the rounds on twitter. The problem with things like this is, the movie claims to debunk all the points of the opposite side, while upon its release you have the other side immediately debunking every point in the movie. Nobody from either side will ever be converted.
coprolite
I only made two minutes. I got pst the "climate reasearchers make it up for grants" guy buy the "one world government" guy was too much. It's unfair to say it was just boomers. One guy looked like he might be in his mid fifties. Here's a review https://skepticalscience.com/climate-the-movie-a-hot-mess-of-cold-myths.html

What happens on Twitter isn't a great barometer for what normal people in reality are up to.
Bigmouth Strikes Again
WTF has twitter got to do with this? People on here calling it a load of shite, without even watching it. Dearie fucking me. -

Dearie fucking me. We get limited time on this earth. When 99% of the punters who know what they’re talking about go ‘aye this is thing’ and then a couple of random wee guys go ‘eh, naw it isnae’, it’s expedient to balance it out and reason that the punters who know what they’re talking about know what they’re talking about. I mean, what’s the worst scenario here? The planet isn’t fucked? Yay, then.

ICTChris
The guy who made it also made a documentary about the benefits of silicone breast implants. So global warming - made up; massive tits - very good. It's a political programme I can get on board with.

Miami’s arguably the plastic surgery capital of the world and also meant to be largely underwater in a century. So if there’s plenty of skilled surgeons that can put massive norks into you that you can float around on it’ll ease the evolution into folks becoming mer-people.

As for Nobel winners, Bob Dylan got one for his songs but he can't sing, he can't even sing as well as Lenny

BFTD
Anyone have any documentaries about why people decide to believe a small handful of contrarian voices, often speaking on topics outside of their field of expertise, at the expense of the overwhelming majority of people who know the most about the subject? Presumably it's some form of mental illness, but that's surely the most interesting aspect of most topics on this subforum. I mean, there are still millions who contribute to the lifestyle of exposed con man Andrew Wakefield and insist he's the top boi on matters related to vaccines and/or autism. It's fascinating, if not terrifying.

I'll say this about you, at least you posted this on an appropriate thread. In terms of scientific credibility, rejecting the basics of climate change - that the atmosphere has warmed by about one degree in the last 150 years and that the cause is human action, mostly burning oil, gas and coal - is right on a par with flat earthism. The amount of demented sh*tf*ckery they need to go through now to try to refute that reality is hilarious. They even deny warming has occurred, in which case someone's going to have to explain how the trees are in on it.

It varies hugely depending on the actual conspiracy. On climate change I've never come across a denier who didn't have strong political opposition to the implication of climate change. Reducing emissions inevitably means constraints on personal freedoms. Instead of reacting like the rest of us who are reluctantly accepting harsh realities and trying to find the least bad way to do it, like children they just yell "NO IT ISN'T!" They choose to believe that the people warning them about climate change just want to control them, so the conspiracies are inevitable from there. There's no scientific evidence that could ever change their mind because they'll never believe anyone who produces it.
