Seems weird not to just build the flats over the top of the bus station, effectively making the busses underground, like you would imagine it will be semi high-rise anyway.

Used to be kinda like that in the 1980s, when there were a few office buildings that went over the station.

Cant really see in this pic, but the exit to St Andrew Sq was just to the right of the Travellers Tryst pub.

This is what it was like inside at one point, looking toward the old St James Centre.

Since the launch of the super duper new shiny trains on the Glasgow underground, it seems there is a fault on at least one of the lines every three or four days on average.

This month, however, they have managed 9 suspensions of one or both circles so far

Wrong type of 'something' on the rails ?

Subway update: the rush hour service, which has been every 6 minutes for the last few months, is now every 8 minutes. It was every 2-3 minutes before the “upgrades”.

There have also been a further 4 outages in the last 5 days.

It really must take some effort to make a service which has been fairly reliable in its current form (for the last 50 years) almost completely fucking useless by modernising it

They probably hired the folks that fixed British Rail, then introduced competition for buses, and went on to improve both ferries and British Airways.

8,000 capacity Edinburgh venue approved.

Good decision.  Seems mad that Edinburgh doesn't have a venue like this already and the location seems to work pretty well - convenient for the motorway, the tramline and the airport.

and Edinburgh park for mainline rail connections to the west and into town

it’s  a bit smaller than the equivalents in other cities but there’s presumably no point in duplicating the Hydro and actually they should complement each other well

There wil be  plenty of acts not big enough to pack the hydro out but too big to play anywhere else in Scotland

Half of this thread is people from Edinburgh complaining about how the people they voted into office have buggered up the transport system.

Many of the people complaining about Edinburgh's transport seem to be from the neighbouring councils areas who feel they should be able to drive uninterrupted into the centre at 50 mph and park next to the Scott Monument for nothing

TBF this mentality is so widespread it's frightening.  Perhaps for another thread but you often hear people complain that "there's nowhere to park" in Falkirk town centre. The statement is just absolute bollocks, there are 2 large and underused multistories that charge the princely sum of £4 for an entire day. There are other free albeit time limited car parks in the area too. what they really mean is "I can't park directly outside the place I want to go, for free and for as long as I want"

As much as there are numerous conspiracy's about the "war on cars" flying about just now, there's probably a bit merit to doing so. People without cars will use other methods, but generally once people own a car, they want to use it for 100% of their journeys. Planners need to do something to put the balance in favor of alternative modes or else urban areas become constantly gridlocked
