Scotland v Austria

Recommended Posts

Not great overall but not terrible after a shaky opening period.

We knew exactly what we were getting when Clarke was appointed and I don’t think we expected too much different.

Dykes has to do better at holding up the ball for me. Too often it has just came straight back after getting sent up to him.

I think there’s space that O’Donnell could exploit as gaps have appeared a few times, just need a bit more conviction to attack it.

Christie should have layed it off to Armstrong

Yeah there was probably still a ball-boy on Aikenhead Road fetching Armstrong's last shot, he could have got that ball while he was there.

If this game was in Vienna you'd be reasonably content, but if we want to finish top two, we need to win at home.

They are there for the taking, but we are far too wasteful. Armstrong and Christie add nothing positive, and the game is passing Dykes by.

Either go back to what was working (balls up to Dykes to knock down for runners from midfield) or play through McTominay feeding balls to Dykes' feet and let him feed a runner.

What we are doing atm just isn't working.

Finished the half much better.

The defensive shape is legitimately good when Hanley isn't charging about the place (which to be fair, he's doing less of in the last 20 mins). Packing the centre of the box and stopping them getting any really good chances.

Going forward though there are two positions that are just clear deficiencies. O'Donnell is a mile off it at this level - his brain is just half a second slower than everyone elses. Constantly playing the wrong passes. Alaba isn't concerned about him at all and is given him yards of space, because he knows when O'Donnell gets it he'll f**k it up somehow.

Dykes is working hard, but his touch isn't there tonight. Matter of time until Adams replaces him.
