It's becoming more and more apparent that our only escape from this is to take a chance on independence as the "known" alternative is an utter nightmare.....

Independence has a myriad of issues.  The most basic of which is that Scotland isn't a homogeneous region of Britain.

Our differing outlook is surely a major reason why we SHOULD be independent.

The fact that as a nation we are more socially leaning in our politics and are far more open minded / welcoming to foreigners rather than viewing them with suspicion is in itself pretty major.

In a nutshell we don't tend to have the insular views that many of our close neighbours hold close to their hearts and as such there's really very little uniting us as "great" Britain.

The biggest problem with politicians like Truss and Boris is that they have no beliefs at all.

Oh, they have beliefs and we are about to see the advancement of a whole raft of them. When she says her policies will make things all right, she means all Right.

The tragic thing is, that she will probably win the next election as England are naturally right wing. And Labour are bloody hopeless.

England?  The home to Karl Marx?  The birth place of Wat Tyler?  Where Tam Paine learned to make corsets and write  books?  Tollpuddle Martyrs and the anti-corn-law movement of Richard Cobden?

Are  you off your fucking head?

Edit: I just read you latest post and you are.

I have yet to meet a single person from overseas currently living in Scotland, and previously living in England, who has found us less welcoming than down south. This includes Africans, Czech, Bulgarians, Poles, Chinese, Indians etc. Angry, whiny British (meaning English) nationalists get even angrier and whinier than usual when you point this out to them. I can't imagine why.

I’d suggest you live in quite the echo chamber if you don’t believe those views exist in significant numbers in Scotland.

It just so happens that front and centre of Scottish politics is the independence debate letting it go under the radar, but you will find plenty of vitriol towards minorities etc, throughout the country on both sides of that divide.

You're off your fucking head if you haven't noticed that it isn't the mid-19th century anymore. Things have changed. I keep expecting them to reinstate the Corn Laws as it's the only form of social progress in the last two centuries they have yet to reverse.

If Labour can't win the next election by a total landslide, they are completely finished as a heavy-hitting party, as far as I'm concerned. They might have the shouty types and a big membership, but that would totally finish them if they can't beat this rabble.

Surely Truss's elevation to Prime Minister must be the least propitious in living memory.  She failed to convince her Parliamentary colleagues of her merit, but she then had the great good fortune to sneak into a head-to-head with a rival of ethnic origin.

Even then, only 82% of the Tory Party membership actually bothered to vote and although she defeated Sunak the margin was way short of a ringing endorsement, however the right-wing cheerleaders attempt to spin it.

Factor in her serial inabilities and I'll give her a year tops.

Spot on. If they cannot unseat this shitshow of a government then they are an irrelevance.

Of course its true.

If you want a demonstration of it in action, Liz Truss is demonstrably thick as pigshit, she barely made the last 2 via the parliamentary vote. Truss was voted PM by a few thousand white, old farts from places like........buckinghamshire.

Sunak had zero chance of winning, partly on account of his "deep tan".

Thats the truth of your inclusive little englander party members.
