Humza strolled it. Ash was a bit nervous and not too confident when answering questions, Kate was a wee ball of energy desperate to answer any question.

to be fair Humza has been used to spouting dross out for the past few years

If someone buys a product to which the DRS applies, but doesn't take it back to get the 20p deposit, who gets the unclaimed 20p? The product manufacturer or the retailer*? If it's either of them, I reckon they're on to a winner. Seems to me that customers will be lending them money but not asking for it back.  I suppose they could donate it to charity but  I certainly won't be holding my breath.

(*Don't know who else it could be!)

I listened to Forbes' interview with Chris Deerin earlier. She seems intent on pitching somewhere to the right of Keir Starmer. No wonder Deerin, McColm, etc like her so much.

I think she sees herself as a Euro style Christian Democrat, following in the footsteps of Angela Merkel who she compared herself with the other day.

Which is what worries me the most, I grew up as a Labour voter and if Starmer is a socialist, I am a 30 goal a season striker in the premiership.

The SNP should be a socialist alternative to (what passes for) Labour, not apeing them.

Exactly, pitching to the left of Labour has been a large part of securing the various election wins, forcing Labour into Uber-Unionist pisturing to compete with the Tories. Suddenly dropping to the right of them on economic as well as social issues is the real danger here.

No matter how much sense Forbes’ economic strategy might make, or how authentic she may appear, it’s all about rhetoric at the end of the day.

The SNP will only keep their voters by talking left and dangling the carrot of independence.

Sorry, just coming back to this.

I recycle anyway, so the DRS will just be an added pita for me.

I can understand, and empathise, if small businesses have added costs for this...............but what I am not 100% sure on is the differences between the proposed Scottish scheme and the one in England and Wales.

I had read that the proposed English one included plastic drinks bottles as well, so seems to go even further than the Scottish one !

Wonder if complaints about the Scottish one are merely businesses deferring the inevitable anyway?

(as I said, I dont really know).

I agree with you 😌

I already recycle as much as I can in my recycling boxes and the council take it, are they going to nick all my 20p's? Or do I have to pick out all the items with deposits on and slowly poke them one by one into a return vending machine? I've seen these things in Germany and they're cool, but I wasn't living there and I was only returning 1 item...
