The strangest item I can recall on a menu was a tattie scone fritter.

Haggis smothered in chippy sauce is a gustatory concatenation of which Escoffier would be proud I'm hungry now.

Out of interest, which did you think was the worst? Most of them that I've had in Stirling were meh, there was one good one though. Trying to remember the name of it. Currently googling to try and work out which one

Looks like they boil the chips though.
invergowrie arab
I went to Hawick and they hadn't heard of fritter rolls. They had fritters and rolls so I don't know what the issue was. Battered sausage is a nice chaser but I wouldn't waste a supper on one. Feeling flush - chicken breast Bones of my arse - haggis pudding King rib chaser with either.
Newbornbairn
Sod all of that. Fish, it's got to be fish and it's got to be haddock.
Derry Alli
A battered smoked haddock would be quite the culinary pleasure.

vikingTON
I saw via some weird Facebook post a few weeks ago that a chip shop in Bo'ness does a whisky-smoked, battered fish supper. Any reviews of this intriguing option? The slice supper is also a badly missed opportunity. 34 minutes ago, invergowrie arab said: Bell Rock do a battered smokie or they used to anyway I got a smokie supper from there about a year ago. It might be the away day haze but I'm about 90% sure it was just the smokie without batter. Not bad (it's a smokie and a bag of chips) but a wee bit underwhelming.

They also do a battered curried fish which was decent.

Newbornbairn
How about a Stonner? Sausage wrapped in donner meat, deep fried in batter. I suggest you be very careful when ordering.

johnnydun
I have also noticed, along with the glorious mock chop, another thing that doesn't travel far from the North East, is macaroni cheese pie from a chipper.

alta-pete
I’ve been aff the chippy suppers for years but as for the one good one in Stirling - has The Fountain (just down from the Court (my friend tells me)) substantially dropped in standard?
