After the televised opening First Round tie saw a comfortable passage into the quarters for the battered sausage, we move onto the next three ties.

I do but I can explain my behaviour.

Where I live you can’t get good stuff from the chip shop. The cod and sausage is ok but not good and fish cakes are tolerable in a pinch. Outside of that it’s really bad pies (Clark’s or puff pastry rectangles) or chicken Goujons. So I’m not forgoing anything good. I suppose I could just have an extra pickled egg or two.

Furry boots do you stay? That all sounds a bit grim?

Home teams should be strolling this surely.

The bottom tie Smoked Sausage v Chicken is tie of the round and Chicken so strong away from home.  A while ago I would have said an easy win for Smoked Sausage but a trip to a chipper (canna mind name of it but it was exceptional) in Carnoustie and my first Chicken Supper in years has me convinced who should go through to next round

South Wales. It’s a dessert for decent baked or fried produce.

I've been to Swansea a couple of times and the chippies look grim. Fish, a saveloy and some sort of pies were the extent of the menus I saw, at the time.

The only decent baked product I got was a lamb and mint bake from Greggs.

Do you ever have a poppadom with yer Chinese take away?

I've always been extremely suspicious of the 'Fish & Chicken Bar' in Auchterarder.  Never been in for this very reason.

That sounds about par for the course.  Plenty good foreign stuff about once you find the decent ones. My regular Chinese doesn’t do poppadoms but I wouldn’t be surprised to find others doing burgers and pizzas too,

My dad does occasionally. It actually looks alright, but still not really on.

My condolences.

Now that it was mentioned above most chippies I recall were labelled fish and chicken bars.

One of the best within walking distance for me is The Chip Chik Inn at Temple. The fish supper is on point.

I guess the plethora of chicken take aways has lessened the chicken and chips as a go to these days?

Surely the problem with a chicken supper is the batter is gone on the first bite into the chicken? One you're past that it's just, well, (overcooked) chicken. With a fish/sausage supper you get a proportioned bite of product and batter with each mouthful.

Plus, they leave them all night just sitting there, never cooked to order.

Still better than a beefburger supper though.
