Has anyone in the history of humankind ever looked at someone and had the thinness of their lips being the tipping point in whether they found them attractive or not? Most will tell you that they do it for themselves, not to attract men. When you see the results, it's hard not to believe them - the question is why it makes them feel good to look like a vicious satire of a porn star.

Adverts on the weans' TV channels for toys are bad enough ("you don't want to be the only one without this toy" type of perfidy) and should be better regulated than they are, but the type of as you're talking of should be treated like it was for fags, booze or babestation. Davy the Dug
On Amanda Stavely, I’m sure she has some sort of genetic condition therefore it’s not really her fault. I am seriously considering a hair transplant in the near future, it would make me feel happier than going bald, so don’t really see what the issue is. My partner got her breasts done after losing a bit of weight, it made her feel better so again, not seeing what the problem is. Quite a lot of judgemental folk on here.

DiegoDiego
I knew a plastic surgeon in Italy, and she used to love pointing out folk who'd had work done. The vast majority of the time you'd never know. Folk who say people should be happy as they are, where is the line drawn? Are they allowed to dye their hair? Wear mascara?

Jives Miguel
Hair transplants also look shite and incredibly obvious, and usually need re-done a few times over the course of having one. You also have to take hair loss pills for the rest of your life I'm rapidly balding myself and its still a no from me, Simon
TxRover
2 hours ago, carpetmonster said: It’s totally normalized there. Miami TV you’ll get adverts for plastic surgeons on a Saturday morning between the cartoons. $4k for new tits and $3.5k for a new arse was the going rate IIRC. The heavier emphasis around the DFW market is on the weight loss/shaping/toning surgical options. I suspect Miami focuses more on the beach body, much like Cali, while the more business focused areas focus on the sucking it out and puffing it up approach. A huge portion of the obvious work that gets seen can be attributed to poor decisions by the patient…especially as avoidance of tobacco/nicotine and alcohol before surgery and during healing can make a massive difference in how you recover after surgery. The other factors tend to be repeat customers (scar tissue builds), surgeons doing the work the patient wants without consideration of the actual condition versus desired, people wanting to look like so and so. I know a plastic surgeon who only does reconstructive work, and limits that to returning a natural appearance or very mild changes that are suited to the body/facial structure. His results are nearly invisible, but he won’t try to make a bulldog look like a afghan.

I think a lot of the tattoos around nowadays will look absolutely horrendous in 20 years time, but if people want to go around like walking paintings it's up to them.
djchapsticks
I started losing my hair at 22 and by 27 it was more or less gone. I'll be honest, I hate it. I'd love to have my hair back but I just couldn't justify paying several thousand on a procedure that is invasive, painful, not guaranteed to work and requires extensive gruelling aftercare for a purely cosmetic reason. As for the teeth thing, I can understand people getting it if they have a mouth that genuinely causes them discomfort but for purely cosmetic purposes, looks utterly stupid. I have quite a large underbite which makes my bottom jaw protrude a bit and a gap in my teeth (which has had a crown since I was 19). The fix for this was that in my late teens, I went to the old Canniesburn hospital regularly and consultation surrounded resetting my jaw by breaking it and removing a part each side under my ears and moving it back a few mm which would have corrected the underbite, then putting a brace in for a couple of years to close the gap in my teeth (the brace alone being too high risk as it could have moved top teeth back a bit making underbite more pronounced). The risks of such surgery aside from the usual was that I would have to have extensive speech and physical therapy as the new position of my jaw would possibly have caused a lisp and an inability to chew properly. They also gave no guarantees that a lasting speech impediment would not result and on balance, I decided that it wasn't causing any pain or discomfort (still doesn't) and my teeth were in otherwise excellent shape - I still have no fillings despite turning 40 this year - and opted to simply get the gap at the front of my mouth crowned where it has remained now for the last 20 years without issue. The thought of going to get my teeth capped and someone sanding my perfectly healthy, strong teeth to a sharp point in order to place veneers over them with no guarantee that they won't f**k my mouth up by sanding them down to the nerves is mind-blowing. They also look, in 100% of cases in anyone over 19-21 years old, fucking ridiculous. Edited January 19 by djchapsticks
RH33
I'd like breast reduction but not enough to spend about 6/7k on it. Duck lips look ridiculous, it's also about £250 for 0.5ml of the stuff.
