Brentford 0 Hull City 2.

I thought Hull were good value for their win, especially in the second half. The first half saw a few chances fr Brentford, who moved the ball well and forced McGregor into a couple of fine stops. Hull didn't reall threaten that much but they looked very strong and when they had to they moved the ball well. Brentford reminded me a little bit of ICT, in that they tried to play the ball out from the back at all times, which is admirable but put them under a lot of pressure. WHen they did manage to play their way towards the Hull final third, Hull pressed them so that they didn't really take the right option when it came to the final ball.

When the second half got underway Hull seemed to go up a gear and started pressing Brentford back and looking dangerous. Andy Robertson and Sam Clucas, the left side pairing for Hull, came into the game a lot more and linked up very well. Hull got a lot of joy from this side and took the lead when Robertson ran fro deep onto a through ball and smashed a great finish home. Brentford pushed up after that and managed to hit the post with a looping shot, that never really looked like going in They also got an indirect free kick in the box when McGregor picked up a pass back but again they couldn't really cope with the pressure from Hull and pick a killer final ball. Hull wrapped up the points when Clucas slammed home following a save by Button.

I think the game showed the difference between teams looking to get into the play-offs (Brentford) and the real title contenders (Hull). Hull looked really powerful and organised and able to step their game up whereas you got the impression Brentford were going at 100% just to stay in touch. As for the ground, I loved it a good old fasioned ground. I had a ticket for the Ealing Road Terrace, the covered home end and it was great. The atmosphere was pretty good and the Brentford fans were friendly and fair minded recognising that they were second best There are loads of pubs around the ground, one on every corner. There was also a big section where you could get a beer and stand about, a good amosphere.

Off to the Germany - Holland game tomorrow evening in Hanover.

Interesting to see what extra security measures are in place following Friday's events in Paris.

First ever international game not involving Scotland.

Off to the Germany - Holland game tomorrow evening in Hanover.

Interesting to see what extra security measures are in place following Friday's events in Paris.

First ever international game not involving Scotland.

Game called off ca. 90 minutes before kick-off. Latest info on the German news was due to fears of bombs being set off in the stadium. Stadium evacuated. Now on the way home!

Think it was more than fears, there was a bomb inside an ambulance found at the stadium.

Hasn't been confirmed as yet and now the German authorities have gone into schtum mode, saying we had heard about something but can't tell you for security reasons.

We are going away in Spring to. Unfortunately one of the party of four is a teacher and so we are limited to the two week Easter holiday and the flight prices that results in

We've had a look round and think one of the below would be best. El Classico and Schalke v Dortmund would be the best but I have no idea how eaay/cheap you could get tickets for; anyone gone to either and able to recommend?

I'm keen on Rome derby but I was there last year for Roma v Inter. The rest all look good in their own way and would be easy enough to get tickets for

Spring Break I (2nd /3rd April)

Dortmund v Bremen

Juve v Empoli

Fiorentina v Sampdoria

Lazio v Roma

Sevilla v Sociedad

Barcelona v Real Madrid

PSG v Nice

Spring Break II (9th/10th April)

Valencia v Sevilla

Schalke v Dortmund

Hertha Berlin v Augsburg

AC Milan v Juventus

Marseille v Bordeaux

Trenčín 5 Spartak Trnava 3, September 13th.
Entry price: €6 Pint: €1.20
Trenčín is an hour and a half north of Bratislava, and until recently was known for its big, ****-off castle overlooking the town, a small historic centre and nothing else. Last year the town football team completed its rise up the ranks to win the Slovak league and cup. The ground is similar to Dumbarton's bus shelter, only with an additional, open cage going round one corner for the away fans. There was a youth game taking place earlier in the day, which could be watched unrestricted from the castle which overlooks it. I'd put a photo up but for some reason the forum won't allow the size of image (what is this, 1953? Get it sorted.).

Apologies for just noticing this

Went to see ICT play Astra Giurgiu in July. Stayed in Bucharest and our game was on the Thursday. On the Wednesday Steaua were playing Trenčín at the national stadium and there were 3 Trenčín supporters in our hotel.

Asked about tickets for the game but unfortunately it was closed doors due to behaviour of Steaua's supporters. These guys had bought their tx through the club allocation and it was away supporters only.

I actually turned up on the night since it was a short trip on the metro but absolutely zilch chance of getting in. Even armed guards at the approaches and you could hear 100 or so away fans singing inside.

This was the best I could do:

BTW the ICT fans hired 9 coaches for the 60 mile run to Giurgiu. We got a police escort all the way

Great thread this lads, just spotted it.

As many on here will know my sole reason for being on this board is my quest to visit every ground in Scotland and I still have 8 to do. Was planning to do Dunfermline v Brechin yesterday till I saw the weather forecast and heard about the bridge closure, so it was a day without footy (which is very unusual for me on a Saturday having done at least 100 matches per season for the last 6 seasons). I did get to Sunderland under 21's v Reading under 21's at Eppleton Colliery Welfare today though which is pretty random.

I am particularly interested in the foreign trips some of you have been on as now that my kids are adults, the wife and I can take our holidays outwith the school ones and this has enabled me to tot up a few random grounds over the last few years. I have done Ergotelis and Zakynthos in Greece, plus Slavia Prague, Viktoria Zizkov (twice), Lokomotiv Vltavin and Viktoria Plzen v Dinamo Minsk in the UEFA Cup all in the last 16 months.

My mates and I are looking at a European trip for my 50th which is next September and at the moment we are looking at either, Valencia to visit the Mestalla before they knock it down, Rotterdam weekend including a Feyenoord Match (Feyenoord and Sunderland fans have a weird non official link up and loads of them come to our games), or a Germany trip based in the Dusseldorf/Cologne area. The Dutch and German options are probably favourite as we ideally want to see two or three games and the scheduling in those countries over the weekend and the ease of getting from one town/city to another ticks the boxes.

Looking at the fixtures for some weeks, it is easily possible to do a Friday night match, 2 on a Saturday and a Sunday game.

That Zakynthos game I went to is easily the most bad tempered violent, nasty game of 'football' I have ever seen. Bumped into a Berwick Rangers fan there and he was gobsmacked by it as well. The away team had a man sent off for jumping off a stretcher and attacking the linesman and they then refused to come back out for the second half until being talked round by the ref. The half time interval lasted 35 minutes. My wife decided to stay round the pool and she was gutted she missed it when I told her later what went one.
