It has been pissing rain non stop since October. Everything is sodden even now, at the end of May. We have seen games on grass get cancelled over and over again. Top flight games cancelled at very short notice. In ideal conditions @Div might have a point about watching games. But we play through the wet months in Scotland. Add to that for smaller clubs, having an artificial pitch can be used to generate revenue. Scottish football is not awash with cash. Forcing smaller clubs to shell out huge sums replacing perfectly good pitches for grass is lunacy in the context of the Scottish game. It is just penalising clubs based on...what exactly? Context is key. Those pushing for the ban don't see the big picture.

The only real thing to laugh about, looking back, was the absurdity, especially of rules. The governments tried various schemes that were generally useless (the tier system, for example). Some scientists gleefully announcing that social distancing and mask wearing was the "new normal". The professor who said there could be half a million dead - causing the panic and lockdown - sneaking into his (married) girlfriend's place to get his hole. I think it was @pozbaird (apologies if incorrect) who was at a swimming pool ogling the elderly, and noticed that when a group of old women were sitting down to a coffee they had masks off, but if one stood up and walked, alone, to the bog she needed to put a mask on. By the second lockdown I 100% broke the rules. I visited my parents every week when it wasn't allowed, with my kids. Don't regret a second of that.

Sounds like a rehash of David Cameron's scheme to get folk on benefits working a full week for no pay to boost their self esteem. Simon Jenkins is a tit.

Outflanking Sunak on the drookit front

Here's what I (still) fail to understand. Taxes are at their highest level. And national debt trebled under the Tories; they borrowed more than every government in history put together. So, loads of money coming in. Aside from the top-slicing to Tory donors, what has the money been spent on? Not public services. Not infrastructure. Furlough was a small part of this but aside from that, where has the money gone?

I reckon it would be far, far closer in the polls if he were still in charge. I've heard a few times that "Boris was doing a good job" on English TV. He never cut any ice here but down south he was quite liked.

Just come to a realisation that Boris Johnson, if he were still in charge, would be less batshit than Sunak is being.

I agree, but safety folk are bonkers nowadays. We'll never even see a standing start on a properly wet track again. I doubt we will see refuelling for the same reason. Drop the need to use two compounds in a race and bin DRS, at least in qualifying, too.
